Adagio is a shoot-em-up (shmup) based upon such classics as R-Type, Gradius, Project X and ThunderForce. It features retro classic gameplay along with a detailed, anime-like story. Along with graphics stylistically appropriate for the late 80's/early 90's, it features detailed bosses and secrets in every level. If you like games from the height of the shmup golden age, then this game is especially catered for you. :)

An arcade-style game for 1 or 2 players (splitscreen, cooperative or duel). It's sort of a cross between Spacewar and Centipede, if that makes any sense.
You fight your way through many levels full of strange creatures and machines, upgrading your chosen craft as you go along. The graphics and sounds are decidedly retro-arcade-style. It's hard, but you get better with practice.
It's covered by the GPL, so source is available. It was written for DOS/Win95 using DJGPP and no ...

Suit up and blast your way through six levels of increasingly difficult enemies in this 2D/3D planar shooter from the author of the perpetually-in-development-crpg, Fenix Blade. My speedhack 2006 entry.
In this game, you play a lone spaceship trying to outgun an entire alien fleet. You have the advantage, however, because your ship is completely invincible as long as you remain sane! Unfortunately, you don't have a very strong grip on reality, and a few well-placed enemy shots (or collisions with enemy ships) could make you temporarily go insane. Get hit too much, and you go crazy, and each hit you take when insane WILL cause permanent damage.
Also: When ...
Originally completed in 1997 but previously unreleased, Independence Day is a very simple game that requires the pilot of a descending space craft to shoot out the buildings below them in order to allow a safe landing.
This is my entry to TINS'05, hacked together in 72 hours.
Lord of the Stars is a Lord of the Rings parody set in space. You fly through 9 waves of enemies, shooting them down with a beam of the same color as enemy and avoiding damage.
Note: you are supposed to use mouse+keyboard for control! It takes a bit to get used to, but it works well once you do. :)
Version 1.00 is the one submitted to TINS, there will probably be a new version later with fixed bugs, balanced gameplay and new ...
A 2-dimensional space combat game that preserves the feel of Star Control II while adding many new features.
The latest work-in-progress version, cur.zip, about 42 megabytes as of 2/24/2002, has all of the latest features, ships, games, etc. This is what most internet players use. Updated very frequently. Usually, but not always, reasonably stable.
