Star Control: TimeWarp  
The link is out of date... this is the correct one. There are two downloads, a big one, and a smaller one (light). http://timewarp.sourceforge.net/ It's a nice game, but of course I'm biased cause I help(ed) developing it. Anyway, I find it's quite addictive. ;)
