Yeah, someone was kind enough to tell me about that in-game, after I complained about the number of times I had died from falling while trying to build an elevated minecart track. CGamesPlay, could you update the map again? I've been doing some exploring. ----- |

A limitation of the software means that to expose more of the map, it has to double the boundaries of the map, which will mean the render process will take 4 times longer >_< -- Ryan Patterson - <http://cgamesplay.com/> |

If anything, they're worse. Notch made some mapping software that was really fast, and generated the world view in real time. Who knows if that software is still around, and if it was updated to support the new save setup of not having only 5 worlds to play with. --- |

I tried fortresscraft demo on xbox last night. Wasn't impressed at all, even compared to the classic mode minecraft it was pants. Still, I hear they're making a proper minecraft for xbox. If so, could this be the end of the current java (and therefore, non-windows) platform? given it's daft managing two streams (.net, java). Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. Notch said he is still working on the PC version. I'm guessing that is because he has more freedom with the PC version. From what I can gather from twitter feeds, Notch may not be directly working on the 360 version. --- |

Stupid b*st*rd son bought the game by mistake. Selected multiplayer and he thought the screen that popped up was a disclaimer or something so he clicked Yes. It was the payment screen tbh, every single trial game I've ever played has brought up a screen first saying 'this is only in the full version, press X to buy' Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. Hahaha, the only new features he adds are bugged out and he's thinking about a 360 version? This is approximately in line with Mozilla thinking they could pull off a mobile version of Firefox. (I know they made a release, but I'm assuming it leaks almost as much memory as the full version). |

Huh. I think I'm exploring new territory, and then I stumble across someone's awesome obsidian-and-lava-and-diamond structure. Whose is that? ----- |

Did you cut down my tree, kdevil?

What tree where? I cut down a couple trees that were in my way, but I didn't notice any hints of them being deliberately planted (a sign, torches, etc.). ----- |

Ha, no worries, it grew back. I think I should expand my obsidian house, however. It needs more gold.

Well, I got round to starting my own local server up with bukkit. I gave myself the chest full of anything mod, flying mod, blast pickaxe, no damage tools and weapons and a few others (like creating walls, boxes and cuboids). After I made chests full of everything and built a diamond block house I got bored and switched all the mods off. It's no fun having everything. Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. One of my first maps I used mineplump, and even when turning the settings down a bit, I still had massive seams of stuff. full blocks of iron, gold and diamonds. stacks of blocks. Went searching in a cave for iron, got ambushed by a creeper. Did I personally offend Notch somehow? ----- |

The server side login stuff doesn't appear to scale well. Well, it's the same group that hacked Sony Pictures' web site not too long ago. --- |

The original Minecraft login system used an O(n) lookup to match a user name. I imagine it was trivial to "sink" this server. -- Ryan Patterson - <http://cgamesplay.com/> |
