Nothing beats: [Your great you escaped the cat's lair and got all the cats back to normal. You One.] Of course, that wasn't lost in translation. That was me not know how to write when I was 10. I'm dumb!. Marcello |

How about "A winner is you." from Dragon Warrior? gnolam said: And with a link to Zany Video Game Quotes, this whole thread becomes rather pointless Maybe, but it's fun discussing poor translation. -Maverick ----- |

That's what I originally thought. But then people started saying it was from something else. -----sig: |

Because we didn't pay attention and figured this thread was about "worst GAME translation". And pretty bad translations would be every chat message in Multiplayer FPS games.

Yeah.. multiplayer FPS games have really bad chat messages Reminds me of the one strongbad episode (no time to look it up, I think it's called run a mile). Strongbad is typing, and eventually every single word is a letter in an acronym. Brain -> Crunch for time factor -> Fingers -> Keyboard.. goes through a very big mess.. Sometimes the conversion from brain -> fingers suffers badly from time contraints.. If not, the fingers -> keyboard conversion method is flawed. Anyway.. I'm bad at finding these myself. I'd have probably read "All your base are belong to us" and just went with it without a thought, because I knew what it meant Brings me to 23's examples.. I just realized the steady sword one, heh.. Bah! NOTHING beats translations to "Polish" made by Soviets (Russians, Ukrainians etc.). Instead of enjoying the game, I just ROTFL, believe me.. and it brings me a good mood till the end of the day. It's something like "Cloud, what are you do, there's be need an ancient key installed with the wall", but FAR WORSE, cause pl language is a lot more complex beast. ____________________________________________ |

The japs like their bad english so much they start to misspell words on purpose: http://www.engrish.com/image/engrish/victoly.jpg well, if you can't beat them, join them, i guess ____________________________________________ |

I would expect "victoly", since apparently there's no 'r' in Japanese (hence, "Engrish" ) EDIT: Wait; I got that backwards, didn't I? No L in Japanese ... geez I'm stupid -- |

23: There's an 'r'.. it's just not pronounced that way... it's pronounced sort of like an r-l. "He who controls the stuffing controls the Universe" |

hmm. well about that no r or l thing, I've heard both r an l in songs and anime... Can't remember the symbol it used (or which show it was...), but I'm sure entheh remembers it... One show's intro or ending song had distinct "La"s (and it sounded like La, not Ra...) -- |
