I don't want to resort to using my crappy TV Tuner card to watch shows?

Yeah. I myself am getting sick of downloading them and watching them on my 27" Semi-Flat Toshiba via TV-Out. ;)

My TV cost me $350. I could swear it was a mistake on futureshop's behalf.. because on their site it said $549... shortly after it was on sale for $449, and right now it's on sale for $379. ::)

Anyway, no. I wont buy you a TV :P

I haven't read this or the other thread (Kanzure's), but I'm gonna post this here. Synapse Jumps, form the other thread:

Quote:

It's just the way they think. Cuz they're dumb

But that attitude is just saying that you fail to see the logic and highlights your immaturity. I am 15. I don't complain about not being able to decide if I want to drink or not, or that I am responsible enough to vote, or to drive. Why? Because I realize that

gnolam said:

the logical course of action is to implement a general age limit for when someone is considered an adult. Some should perhaps be raised to adult status before that. Some shouldn't be even when they reach that limit. But in general, the system works...

.

And as to real life: I believe some lyrics are in order:

Jimmy BUffet - Pascagoula Run said:

It's time to see the world
It's time to kiss a girl
It's time to cross the wild meridian
Grab your bag and take a chance
Time to learn a Cajun dance
Kid you're gonna see the morning sun

So come on, go see the world, go kiss a girl, take a chance, learn a cajun dance, see the morning sun. Remember, no matter how many bits you allocate for each color channel, we still haven't really replicated nature's beauty. You never have the joy of knowing someone intimately online. It is personal interaction. You never get any physical movement when you sit at a computer, and to live a long, healthy life, on the computer or not, you need to keep your heart in shape, and the way to do that is excercise.

Back to the adult responsibility thing, I don't know if Ron Ophir ever got answered in his questions, however from his writing style (and he might have told us), he's very close to my age. However, I try to write as professionally as possible whenever plausible. Take this example, on #allegro one latesummer's (as opposed to midsummer's) eve, I was having an argument with KimmoA about something pointless, and Ceniza says that he think's I seem mature for my being 15. Now, I would consider a sign of immaturity to be KimmoA's response: He quoted Ceniza (calling me mature), and said I was too close to fjortis age and young and immature.

Ok, I have about 2 hours a day now school's in, I need to be playing UT :)

Punch him in the face and see if he'll be any less over protective of you. Just be ready for and return blows though. :P

And Diana also protects me from evil low lives that point and laugh at me at the mall. She gives them "cut-eye". It's quite powerful.

I do in fact program, although it's mostly for work; I haven't had much time for my own projects recently. Apart from that, I frequent a few forums and IRC channels, I play games, read slashdot and other news sites, I make pixel art or draw with my Wacom, etc.

Once you start working full-time, having a life becomes less of an option :-/

Reasons:

  • You (often) move away from social connections of your hometown.

  • Your pals get into time and attention-consuming relationships - once they get children you won't see them very often anymore

  • You don't meet new people anymore - at least not in an environmet so 'conducive to building friendships' as school

I've had Some luck, in that I live in Uppsala, near Stockholm, where some old pals have also moved, and I've still got some people I know from the UNI here in town.

"You get no more friends after 30", they say - sure hope that isn't true

PS - I kind of understand Yves' attitude - You simply have no idea (Manjula) what foul schemes we guys invariably have for women ;)

If I had a sister I would deny to her that the Internet existed :-X

I tried. Doesn't work. He just laughs at me.
Actually, Yves has no problem trying to set me up with his strange friends. He's done it twice already. It didn't make me laugh.

Heh. I'd like to see the junior sergeants' faces when the unit officer caught them trying any of that...

Well, next friday i'm supposed to take the soldier's oath, and after that i'm officially no longer a recruit, but a soldier, and i even get the brigade insignia on my m/91. (The person, brigade insignia and insignia background pirctured are unrelated. If i'm not mistaken, this guy is a pioneer in the Karjala Brigade near Mikkeli.)

I'm sorry if I'm bursting your little bubble of self-delusion, but you can have a social life online if that's what you want. "Real life" as you so delightfully ironically call it is an overrated tradition which is slowly but surely being dispelled as we learn to embrace what's inside of people rather than these pathetic husks we call bodies.

The problem is that people can live without their online life, but people cannot live without their real life; hense the name 'real life'.
It is important for one to have a real life, otherwise they will have to deal with a lot of extra problems (which I won't go into in this forum). I'm sure you can think of at least some of them.
It is not important to have an online life. A lot of people like their online life, and perhaps it even helps them in some way. But (I believe) a lot people would be better off without their online life. And for the others no online life wouldn't make much difference.

As for me, real life takes priority. But if nothing much is happening, then I move to life2.
Alternatively I could be trying to make something happen, but I'm too lazy most of the time.
