Real Life vs Online Life |

To have a life is important, whether it's online or not. Currently i only have a substitute of life where i only listen to orders and do my best to fulfill them. But if your online life takes priority, there is something wrong in your head. P.S. It's amazing how much you can forget in a month when you're separated from what you've used to. I didn't even remember how good kebab tasted. You don't deserve my sig. |

Well, im also sorry if I'm bursting your little bubble of self-delusion, but you'll most probably never find someone who will truly deeply care for you over an "online life" (also, please explain me how having an "online life" works), if you really want that person whom you met online to truly care for you, you'll have to meet that person in real life. Believe me, ppl act very differently in RL and in OL. It's really easy to pretend to be somebody that you are not online. jhuuskon said: But if your online life takes priority, there is something wrong in your head.

Quote: It is important for one to have a real life, otherwise they will have to deal with a lot of extra problems (which I won't go into in this forum). Indeed! Had I had an on-line life four or five years ago, I doubt I'd have taken the trouble of getting a real one. Not that I particularly wanted a real life back then, I just figured I'd need to have one eventually. Seeing what it's brought me lately makes me relieved, and thinking of what the alternative would have been gives me the shivers. To those of you who don't have much beyond their computer and want a `real life': go out there. The world is a far richer place than any computer could ever be. It will take time (a few years at least) and things will move slowly, but do something. You're doomed to loneliness and depression if you don't. |

The question is do any of the members here really exist. How am I to know if all of you aren't just bots programmed by Matthew using his revolutionary AI programming techniques that are easily capable of passing the Turing test? Then again how do I know that I'm not merely an artificial intelligence based entity in a vessel that resembles a human made to Turings specifications? Perhaps the answer is it doesn't matter who or what is at the other end of the modem/broadband connection. Rather the purpose of interaction whether it be in "real life" or online is to provide ourselves with mental stimulation. Some may say that in "real life" interaction is beyond mere mental stimulation, that it provides other senses like smell, taste, feeling and emotions. But all of those things are just interpretations of input from different devices, all of them processed in the mind. Many people believe the glass is half empty and others the glass is half full, but what you should be concerned with is whether the glass exists and if it does whether there is truly anything inside it. However, if it is the case that there is no glass and that concept can be transfered to other objects such as ones computer, what you should really be concerned with is... WTF did I spend ~AU$1300 upgrading the fscking thing PS. I believe the meaninglessness of this post reflects this thread in general. In the end do whatever makes you happy and keeps your mind stimulated |

Guess Bob's rewritten me Quote: Sorry guys, I have to take thedrakeman offline for some rewritting/bug fixing. He should be back on soon. Looks like Bob thinks he's some sort of l337 haxor with AI knowledge that would rival any. Bob you should be careful telling people that you can write such advanced technology, your government may need to lock you up for reasons of national security;) |

That's not going to happen in "real life" either, so it's a lose-lose situation. -- |

My deffinition would be going places with good friends for whatever reason... Just to go, whatever. Maybe plan for dinner, go with the whole group of your friends to see a movie (my sister's fiance does that with his friends for the big block buster movies, that they want to see). you know, just doing stuff, together. -- |

I barely have an online life A real life is something i definitely have. Just the other day i was talking to my best friend who was practically in tears because she missed me so much, and she was more excited about my visit than anything else. You can't explain a real life, it just is. I guess you would know you had a real life when you didn't have time for your online one, which i don't. My phone rings 50 times a day, and i can't keep people from stopping by my house. i have people pissed at me because i don't go and see them. so if it was between a real life, and an online one, i would choose real life nicholle |
