But never have friends who live less than 10 mins away? I think we can balance the two approaches actually. |

Hi, Richard. I'm sorry if I'm bursting your little bubble of self-delusion, but you can have a social life online if that's what you want. "Real life" as you so delightfully ironically call it is an overrated tradition which is slowly but surely being dispelled as we learn to embrace what's inside of people rather than these pathetic husks we call bodies. -- |

Well said! "Real Life" IS an overrated tradition! I never thought of it that way.. Quote: But never have friends who live less than 10 mins away?

Yay Richie. I believe in balancing on and offline life. I'm proof that it can be done quite successfully |

X-G: Surely you realise that you perceive my views as self-delusions and I perceive your views in turn as self-delusionary. Both our views are only warped perceptions on reality. Neither can be said to be true. Kanzure: Good for you! Glad to hear it actually.. |

None of my RL friends are within an hour away from me... And since I left high school, I became anti-social as well. --- |

The difference is as someone pertinently pointed out that I am right, and you are not. I can certainly understand although I may fall short of sympathizing with your delusion; it's not easy to accept that there is no justice and that things aren't all happy. -- |

I don't think sitting on a computer typing messages to people counts as a "life"...maybe a "hobby", "distraction", "fun thing to do", but it shouldn't be confused with real life. X-G: So, you don't like "real life"? You can't feed yourself computer-generated food, take a computer-generated nap, or breathe computer-generated air... Get a life! |

Best joke I've heard all day. The arrogance of our Egos never ceases to amaze me. |

I think X-G is a computer, and therefore has no use for real life. |

Mr Rabbit Man: Eating and sleeping are necessary evils that unfortunately we cannot escape with our limited powers. As all weaknesses, however, it will be eventually overcome. -- |

Now that sounds positively surreal.. You are a borg, you will be assimilated, except you will depress the whole collective consciousness so we will leave you alone on your planet.

Never going outside is "real life", if that's what you choose to do. However, I cannot honestly say I've met someone (online, of course) who spends 100% of his time by himself in the corner of his parent's basement who truly enjoys life. Inside, they really want out, but have convinced themselves that there is nothing there for them. And, of course, they are probably right. If you don't try to help yourself a bit, no one is going to be help you either. So, in that case, sticking to yourself online is the best thing you can do to the world. That way people living "normal" lives, never have to deal with the depressed people on the streets. |
