Depot Games: Yiff-X

Current Version: v2.03

Project Status: Completed

Highest Popularity: #15 during May 2009

Links: Web Site

Category: Space Invaders

Developers: David Grace

Ports: Windows

Source Code: Not Available

Author's Description: Project Yiff-X! A Space Invaders/Galaga clone that was made entirely as a joke for Furries. Quite playable, though.

Version 2 has a whole new set of highcolor graphics and MP3 sound track. Everything looks very nice and polished! The new music is nice, too, a mixture of trance/Irish folk and was created by a very talented friend.

If you happened to be at Project A-Kon 13 (http://www.a-kon.com) this year, you might have received the special edition CD which contained the game plus a new animated intro movie! (It's available for download now, but it's big!) It also had a copy of HalfLight: Anniversary Edition too. :)

Now ported to Linux, and the Windows version works perfect.

(I've removed the direct download links because there's a bunch of different ways for you to download the game now.)

What's New:

v2.03
Changes from prior version:

* New interface changes. "Press a key" prompts
* Main menu now skips ahead if you're gone through the animation at least once
* Graphics subsystem changed, now relies upon PNG's, and now they are 8-bit, taking up less space.

v2.02
Whole new game! Too much to list, just go to the website and check it out. :)

Public Opinion
Overall Rating: 8.0
  • 8I like the menu system/etc - how everything looks. It's a very pretty game - but after you've killed a couple of foxies it can get a little repetitive. Other than that, it's wonderful!
  • 8Very good presentation & introduction Gameplay & graphics are pretty but concept isn't fabulous. Why not making another game, more original ?
