Author's Description: Lunar Strike is a mission-based third person space shoot-em-up. You fly your ship through a campaign with levels of increasing difficulty, while shooting at enemies both in the air and on the ground. Features include:
- 12 different weapons, including laser cannon, bombs, rockets, missiles, plasma beam and cloaking device.
- 12 different enemies, each with smooth animations.
- Highly detailed 24-bit pre-rendered sprites.
- 2D graphics using OpenGL to take advantage of 3D acceleration.
- An 8-mission campaign, containing air-to-air, air-to-ground and stealth missions.

Comments to review: the player does get invincible for a time after dying. And about the background, those are stars. They're _far_ away.

  • 6The link doesn't work, but you can get it from from http://www.acid-play.com/download/lunar-strike/. Visuals and audio are good. There are some cool ideas (falling ammo and enemies), but gameplay is just average. I got bored before I got very far, because there is so much vertical space to fly around in that there seemed little point trying to kill enemies. The ship movement is a bit sluggish. I don't like that you can't change direction without losing speed. Mission text scrolls way too slowly.
  • 8(1.0.1)The game is pretty well done for an independent project. The gameplay works and the game is fun. Technically, the game seems programmed very well and the effects were good. Two comments: I kept on forgetting the order of weapons, it would be nice to have an icon bar or weapon list, and I don't like the plasma gun on the first boss, since from as far as I can tell you have no warning and it kills you instantly.
  • 8(v0.11)Great Game. I really like many things of this game so i'll just point the things i do not like. 1)When the player is respawned it should be invulnerable for a short time, now you risk to be killed by being spawned on an enemy. 2)I like the falling ammo effect, it seems a little weird with the laser, thought. 3)The Bg could do some parallax movement
