alpnm is an Allegro add-on library for loading and saving images using the various libpnm formats (.pbm, .pgm, .ppm, .pam). While these formats are rather inefficient, they can be very easily loaded and manipulated by software and make a great format for mid-stage image manipulation before conversion to a more efficient format.
