Running OSX under VMWare

I've tried a few times to get OSX running under Windows using VMWare, but always had problems. I finally managed to get it running, and usable by following this guide: http://www.sysprobs.com/easily-run-mac-os-x-10-8-mountain-lion-retail-on-pc-with-vmware-image

Now I just need to decide what I'm going to do with a Mac installation.

Make music, do video editing, make iPhone software...

Any reason you did not go for a native install? It's not much harder than a vm one.

I know I read it, I don't know why I forgot it. :-/ Probably because my brain could not fathom something so unholy as MacOS X on Windows.

Every time I try to virtualize OSX I fail, possibly because I use virtualbox and have an AMD processor... I wonder if this vmware thing is free.

How many real Macs have AMD processors?

This way I don't have to reboot to switch from one OS to another.

True, that is a pain I endure. But for what I use it for: Home Music Production, I need all the power I can get :P

I virtualized OS X on OS X host but have since deleted it. I needed a 10.7 system to test. Now I have 10.7 (and also 10.6) installed on external 2.5" hard drives.

It is possible to get working on AMD, but you need to use a variant of osx86 that supports it out of the box. it takes kernel hacks (extra drivers).

That said, you'll get the best experience from intel hardware.

I haven't tried setting up a development environment yet.

I have an OSX inside vbox running under Linux to do this: http://allegro5.org/tests.py

I'm just using iATKOS though since after uploading my actual OSX image and following guides all day it ended up being the only thing that worked :P
