Not just her either, other friends too. This is more of a rant about etiquette than anything else. I'm one of the few in my group of friends that has a car, hence when we go somewhere, I pick everybody up and take them. Some of them however are rude turd heads, and think something along the lines of "Oh, the car is here, so I should start getting ready now, even though I just had 15 minutes to get ready, and instead played video games..." -- people are rude. Seriously, when someone is going to pick you up, you should be ready before they get there, and either be out by the street so you can hop in, or at least be running out the friggin door as they pull up. Not make your good friend, who controls when you ride the bus and when you don't, go up, knock on the door, wait 15 minutes in the burning summer heat, etc... Anyway, the gf had a good 20 minutes warning, I show up "Dude, I'm not anywhere near ready to go" -- so instead of waiting I just went home, and now I'm gonna code; Yay me.

There could be trouble out there. Reminds me of ruder thing. My friends and I sometimes go to disco and we need two cars and are three drivers. Now one of those friends promises to drive but then refuses in the end. So another friend has to drive (for five times now) and me (only last time). And another action is coming soon... She'll be fine. If she gives me any trouble later on I'll get a new one. Yeah, she calls me dude, I call her dude too. -- Seriously though, car etiquette is the point here. So many people do this to me. They're lucky I don't do this more often. If I had the money, I'd bet that next time she asks for a ride, she'll be ready when I show up.

If you had the money I'd be willing to take it. Keep it up and she'll probably go get a new one. Everybody's life doesn't revolve around you. They shouldn't have to wait at the door or on the curb for you. It would be rude to shower, dress, etc., when you get there Women are also notorious for not being ready on time. I like Brad Paisley's outlook on it in Waitin' On A Woman. Regardless of her motives for taking her time, it was childish to leave (especially if without warning or explanation). Michael Jensen said his girlfriend said: "Dude, I'm not anywhere near ready to go"
It could just be that she didn't really want to hang out with you and knew you would leave her. Michael Jensen said:

Your girlfriend must not be very hot if you'd rather leave and code than wait 20 minutes... I don't completely disagree with you though... My friend and I carpool to work. He owns a car I don't. Since we live 3 blocks apart I walk to his house every day and wait outside his apartment for 5 min until he is ready to go. ________________________________________________ |

Quote: My friend and I carpool to work. He owns a car I don't. Since we live 3 blocks apart I walk to his house every day and wait outside his apartment for 5 min until he is ready to go. Exactly. That's how it should be. Quote: They shouldn't have to wait at the door or on the curb for you. If you want someone to give you a ride in their car, on their time, on their gas, then be ready when they show up, that's all I'm sayin. Edit: It's not just her -- and it turns out there was a cell phone misunderstanding anyway, she had apparently tried to warn me ahead of time during a previous call but couldn't get through because it was breaking up. Quote: I like Brad Paisley's outlook on it in Waitin' On A Woman. We were actaully just talking about brad paisley, I've only heard "ticks" from him, we think it's funny, and I heard a short cut on KMPS of "Online" a new song he's putting out that's damn funny sounding. Needless to say, I'm not taking girl advice from some random country song. Quote: It could just be that she didn't really want to hang out with you and knew you would leave her. Eh, she's still debating comming over even though I told her she'd have to take the bus. Quote: Your girlfriend must not be very hot if you'd rather leave and code than wait 20 minutes... I'm attracted to her: physically, and mentally. She reads xkcd, listens to jonathan coulton, and is HWP. I kind of pride her as one of my better catches. But don't tell her I said that, it will go to her head.

I start the timer when I'm waiting for people. Next time I'm coming over I do a simple subtraction for my estimated time of arrival. You'd be surprised how often people are right on time with their lateness. |

Quote: Now you can never tell her about Allegro.cc. she read the LOLCats code article already... and a couple of others I think. Edit: she thinks it's hott that I'm a programmer. (girls like that aren't extremley rare, but it's a nice find.) We live about a 30 minute walk from each other, maybe a 10 minute drive unless traffic is completely retarted. We ended up getting really pissed at each other in an AIM window while talking about brad paisley and her not being there when I show up and stuffs; then we realized that it was all really stupid, so we went shopping (I love shopping) in a little strip mall where all of the stores were air conditioned and we ate ice cream and looked at junk. We're both completely retarted, so in the end it all works out.
