Not just her either, other friends too. This is more of a rant about etiquette than anything else.

I'm one of the few in my group of friends that has a car, hence when we go somewhere, I pick everybody up and take them. Some of them however are rude turd heads, and think something along the lines of "Oh, the car is here, so I should start getting ready now, even though I just had 15 minutes to get ready, and instead played video games..." -- people are rude.

Seriously, when someone is going to pick you up, you should be ready before they get there, and either be out by the street so you can hop in, or at least be running out the friggin door as they pull up. Not make your good friend, who controls when you ride the bus and when you don't, go up, knock on the door, wait 15 minutes in the burning summer heat, etc...

Anyway, the gf had a good 20 minutes warning, I show up "Dude, I'm not anywhere near ready to go" -- so instead of waiting I just went home, and now I'm gonna code; Yay me. no beach adventures for today (I'm irritable when it's mega hott out, can you tell? )

If you want someone to give you a ride in their car, on their time, on their gas, then be ready when they show up, that's all I'm sayin. Edit: It's not just her -- and it turns out there was a cell phone misunderstanding anyway, she had apparently tried to warn me ahead of time during a previous call but couldn't get through because it was breaking up.

Quote:

Apparently not THAT simple. Shopping and buying stuff are not the same thing.

The most common context shopping is used for, at least where I'm from, is going to malls (stores) to look at products (i.e. clothes) and prices, often with no real intention of buying anything unless there's a sale you can't pass up. Of course, there's also the shopoholics that spend all their money and max out their credit cards shopping compulsively.

Most of the time, if somebody says they love shopping they mean they enjoy spending hours roaming around a mall looking at everything. I don't think I've ever met a man that liked shopping, let alone loved it.

I enjoy shopping also. It's ridiculous, and sexist, to think that men are incapable of enjoying such activities. I think it's a great day out, especially with your significant other! You can grab a bite to eat over lunch, have a good laugh. It's just a fun time.

That seems to fit pretty nicely, though I wouldn't say the spending of money is really enjoyable to me. It's just not painful either. The enjoyment comes from what I purchase.

I'm the kind of person that needs to apply his money towards something lasting and tangible or the money just withers away (a large portion of it down the hatch in liquid form). Right now I'm setting aside some for a Yamaha MO6. Without fixed goals for the use of my money, I tend to spend it on useless things and services.

I like to buy things, but I feel bad for buying things that I really don't need (and there's nothing I really need, so I feel bad if I buy pretty much anything). So I generally buy things for other people. That way, I get the enjoyment from buying something, and I feel good because I made somebody happy.
