That's just cruel, one wing. I was serious about him talking to piccolo though. He should private message him from http://www.allegro.cc/members/piccolo . |

I do not have the power to do that and even if, I would not. Follow Baf idea, it is not that silly. "Code is like shit - it only smells if it is not yours" |

Oh, besides on Allegro Game Developers Network (I don't know if that site is still up), there was a tutorial, even with sources. And Richard Phipps has some tutorial on his page, I think it's some kind of RPG. Search for it. [My website][CppReference][Pixelate][Allegators worldwide][Who's online] |

Easy way to do what you want to do is pirate (or buy an indie license) Torque Game Builder and script a quick game with that. Even if you're a complete hick, you can get an okay-looking game done in 6 months with that. Edit: I'm not advocating piracy, I bought a license myself. I just don't expect him to... for some reason. --- |

There are lots of free games in The Depot with source code. Some of them are giftware, which means that you can do whatever you want with them. [edit] Just make sure that the license really is giftware. -R |

Try some kind of game maker. Then you'll have a basic engine to work from and it will be all your work when you release it. |

Underground Game had a group of people working on an old school style rpg using RPG MAKER XP, they didnt get far, but they had a basic game in a couple of weeks. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ |

Here is an old school (meaning it's old and it's from school, not it's old school) project from me. OpenGL backend and a tile engine, only the scripting engine is missing. You can download the full sourcecode. |

I would also suggest RPG Maker. Why must you make an RPG? Does the assignment criteria say "You are to design and implement an aw3some RPG game."? |

Something about using someone else's source code to build your own game from seems... dishonest, at least. Unless of course you have permission and give them credit, which he was saying he would do anyway. I prefer to try to do it myself first, because I learn better that way, and If I'm really stuck I'll ask a question, or if I just need some information that is easiest to find in a place full of programmers. I have needed to do this a lot, because I'm a stupid noob, but meh, we're all noobs sometime

Heh, I said the similar thing (about being a noob sometime) back in my noob days. If you want a good laugh, look for those post(s), and/or the places I've referenced them. |

Was he banned? If so, why? We should have told C++ would be way to hard and to try looking at HTML. Even better yet, Variables. Variables is the language of choice for any RPG game ================================================= |

You don't need variables in an MMORPG. |

There's a language called "Variables"? I only know of C, C++, Java, Pascal, and the various forms of BASIC. I only know QBASIC and some wierd mix of C and C++ that comes from learning through outdated internet tutorials.
