Oh do animes count as movies?

I don't see why not. :)

Moulin Rouge, The Others, Pi, The Usual Suspects, K-Pax from the top of my head.

I'm going to add Last King of Scotland to my list of good movies. I just saw it tonight, and was extremely impressed with the acting. I feel it could have done more to show how horrific Amin's crimes were, but apart form that, it was an excellent portrayal of him.

I liked M. Night's new one a lot, "A Lady in the Water." Although, I doubt many others will like it, just a select few.

I liked it too. :)

Moulin Rouge

Hate it. But I don't like musicals.

Quote:

K-Pax

Love it. :)

Has anyone here seen Shortbus? It's been praised a lot, not by me though. Behind all the "look we dare to show these scenes too" the story is weak and pretty boring. :)

I don't generally like anime, but I did see Memories by Katsuhiro Otomo and liked it.

Not really.
</quote>Um explain that one for me. That would cut out all animated movies.

Hell, that would cut out MOST movies these days. Most of the big movies are mostly computer animated.

Because 8 frames per second does not a moving picture make.

Go check all the stats for all the animated movies ever, and come back with some evidence.

And I am talking movies. Not the crap Disney has been pushing out.

I've seen many animated movies that were much higher quality than your average crap from most studios.

There is a difference between terms 'anime' and 'animated movies'. They are not the same.

I would say that the animation style is the difference. Anyway I don't know any reason why anime shouldn't count as movie. I just said that they are not the same.

EDIT:
at least for me.

Yeah, in America it's cartoon vs. animated movie (small screen vs big screen). How does it work for the Asians? Anime vs. ???

There may be a term I don't know for that, but I'd assume its just "Big Screen" vs "Little Screen". Then again, they also have another category, the OVA, which are generally much better quality than the TV shows, just that they were released direct to DVD/Video.

In "america" the "OVA" are all the stuff that couldn't even make it to TV ::)

If we are adding animated movies, I would like to suggest "Wallace and Grommit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit". Miyazaki is good.

By reading this sig, I, the reader, agree to render my soul to Bob Keane. I, the reader, understand this is a legally binding contract and freely render my soul.

Oh yes, I liked that one, and "The corpse bride" too. From Pixar, I really liked "The Incredibles" and "Monsters Inc.".

Some good animated movies I like are: Ice Age, Ice Age 2 (not as good, but still worth seeing), Shrek (but I did not like the sequel at all), The one with the fish looking for his parents and everyone I forgot. :)

Those two, I hated. Never thought a movie could be so boring. Robots, Cars and the movie about the fish were bad too. But I liked Toy Story I, and the second one was so-so.
