Anyone else have the luxury( sarcasm) of having someone die on them?

Omitting elderly relatives who died of old age...

When I was 18, I was the patrol captain of a life saving squad. We had a guy apparantly drown right under our noses (though it turned out it was actually a heart attack). We spent about 10 minutes trying to revive him while his family watched on, but then the paramedics turned up and pronounced him dead shortly after. I don't remember his name. Gary something, I think.

I've also had a few friends and aquaintences OD over the years, and have also been involved in a a car accident where another friend was killed.

SSC: you work in a nursing home?

LL: Yes, working here has taught me death isn't very dramatic( and that I truly am a cold hearted bastard). It happens in the blink of an eye.

Years ago I summer worked at a hospital. There were mainly old people as patients. When the wether got extra hot, more patients died than usual. My duty was to carry the bodies to the morgue. I also carried food to the different. I never came to actually know the patients but it still strikes me sometimes that everyone I remember is dead now.

You're one immature asshole, but I already knew that. If any of the moderators here has any sense of what's right and wrong this thread will be deleted and you will get a warning. We'll see what happens. :-/

For speaking ill of the dead? How is this worse than speaking ill of the living, which people have done here many times?

If you work in a nursing home you will have to follow certain rules. I'm sure it's against their rules that their employees write "Rot in hell" together with the name of a deceased.

It can indicate that SSC didn't take very well care of this person while he was alive or acted respectfully towards him when he died. Giving the name of the person is what I reacted on. What if someone who knew him Googles his name and finds this thread? Frankly I'm disgusted with his attitude and amazed that he is allowed to work at a nursing home in the first place.

This is just my view on it. If you're fine with it good for you. And in that case don't complain if someone who thinks you should rot in hell takes care of you when you're old and helpless.

The living are able to defend themselves and those that know the living are generally less offended — I guess because when you speak ill of the dead it's more like you're offering a summary of everything they were than just a transient opinion of some guy you met.

That's a good point, and one which hadn't occured to me.

I used to help out at a nursing home (it was run by one of my ex's family), and there were some residents who I really hated (generally everyone hated them). This didn't cause me to give them any less care than I gave to other residents.

Great! But then again you're not the kind of person who gives out their full names on the Internet and says that you want them to rot in hell after they died.

True, but the point I was trying to make is that a person's behaviour away from their workplace does not necessarily reflect on their behaviour while working.

I didn't think about the full names, I apologize for that one. I edited my post to make it sound better( but my and everyone else who works with me) overall sentiment did not change.

KL: I understand your feeling but it is premature to call someone immature simply because they voice their discontent with people( living or not). You might find I am an extremely mature person in the real world( so says everyone I know and my bosses).

LL is right, my behavior away from the workplace or anywhere professional does not indicate my behavior in those settings. I take very good care of my residents( cooperative ones and the not so cooperative), I treat them with respect and dignity at all times and I don't baby them( which I find to be very disrespectful).

You get warnings for insulting people and generally being a nuisance. I barely post here anymore and my post was 99% good and I did edit out the "offensive" part.

The only people that I truly cared about that have died: my friend's mom (of cancer), my grandfather (old age) and grandmother (of medical complications; but she also had a full life).

And I'm curious, SSC: how long ago did the first person die? I ask because you claim that death isn't very dramatic yet you write memorials to people who I doubt dropped dead this morning.

They all started to passed away about 2 months ago, the names aren't in order.

I actually agree with Kent on this one (never thought I'd say those words;D).

What is the justification for posting the full names of deceased patients at a nursing home, especially if you're going to make unkind comments about them? Their families don't need that crap when they're mourning the loss of their loved ones. Taking care of the elderly is tough work, and we all can appreciate that, but this isn't the kind of stuff you need to plaster on the internet. Come on, man.

At least make up a fake name for him (jumble letters or something... How about Chan Roppel?). I mean come on, we don't need to know his real name, and I doubt any of us care what his real name is anyway.

I can't remember when we have had different opinions but good for you that you're coming along the correct train. ;)

I can only judge you by your actions here. Posting full names of deceased people together with rot in hell is enough for me to get a picture of you. Why did you feel the need to do that anyway? I am also sure that your bosses would think differently of you if they knew your on line work related activities.

However, you are intelligent enough to know why such judgements are quite likely to be wrong. You should also be aware that people don't always think their actions through and make mistakes.

Well, personally I did think it was immature of SSC to write something like that about one of the patients. However, I didn't edit his post because if someone was to find what he wrote, then he'd just have to face the consequences...

And he editted his post anyway, so whatever.

Forgive my pagan ignorance, but it was my understanding that one burned in hell (and rots in prison)?
