Hmm... sounds like an interesting game afterall. Maybe I should reconsider buying it...

I thought your argument was that you wouldn't have enough time to play it to justify the monthly charge (which is a damn good reason not to play it) ...

I know I won't spend enough time playing it to justify the money it would cost me. Not having Windows installed is also a reason not to get the game (and although I'll probably install Windows again at some point, I won't start using it regularly anyway).
Things might be different if there was a Linux client, but World of Warcraft is and will remain the only Blizzard game I don't own.

I was just hoping to pull Steve's leg a bit. ;D

My opinion, you don't need to play much per month to get your money's worth. I think its very cheap actually for entertainment/cost ratio. Gone to the movies lately? That is almost half a month worth of WoW time.

Evert, don't scare us like that.
Who would be the front figure of Allegro development if you dissapeared?
You're the one who thanks people for contributions, announce when progress has been made, gives sensible comments about feature disscussions.
Allegro's future would be uncertain without you.

Did my first instance today with Morrog (guild member). Wow. I couldn't believe it. It was long. I was only lvl 17, pretty useless. Thank god we have 2 level 30ish people. I like being a warrior, but the bad thing is I have such high arrgo that I'm like a magnet.

He's in our guild. Gnome Mage. :)

Good; that's the general idea. :) Would you prefer they hit your priest? :) Stay in defensive stance, count on your teammates to keep you healthy, and do your job by drawing the enemies attention from the more easily killed classes. Tank for the win. :)

Late to the thread; but on the topic of WoW: has anyone hit 60 yet? The highest I've hit so far is 42. But then again, it goes to mention that I have multiple characters at levels such as the one I just mentioned at 42, one at 36, another at 27, etc, etc. Maybe if I dedicated all my time I'd be up and ready for when they open up the battlegrounds? :)

Even so, I've considered cancelling my account a few times. I never actually got around to doing it though. Pretty awesome, when I reviewed my account information: Blizzard has given me a whole free week of play due to server issues at launch time. Go Blizzard!

I'd rather play Second Life. Free trial time, one time only fee to play unlimitedly, an optional monthly fee for extra features. You can even trade in your game money for real money, which you could use to pay off the monthly fee. I heard of someone that racked up a couple thousand USD worth in game money, if he decided to trade it in. :o

Another funny sentence, if you read "wand" as "wang".

I'm liking WoW a lot and also play EQ2. I'm going to have no RL at all with these two games.

I became 16 yesterday. Got some new spells. And then we decided to walk from Ironforge to Menthil Harbour (which means we had to go throw areas with monster around 4-12 levels higher than us). I actually amde it without getting killed and then we went fishing at the harbour :)
I hope to sell the fished in IF for quite some money today. I also got some nice magic stuff which means eithr my disenchanter skill (for stuff I didn't want tp sell) or my money bag (for stuff sold) were increaed.

Speaking of selling stuff: what is an orb (off hand equip) with +4 int worth? I sold it for 15silver and the guy said "yes" way to quickly :)

And all that in zombie mode... at the end I actually had problems with fishing because I was that tired. I even clicked the wrong mouse button from time to time :)
I couldn't read the chat log anymore without really concentrating on it... and I won't event tell you how slow my typing was. So I decided to go to bed pretty early (3:00 in the morning).

I love that game :)

Spellcaster, what server do you play on?

WoW in widescreen is pretty nice, btw. :D

Too bad, I play on Proudmoore. :-/

Well, you could check the auction house for typical prices, but they often are ridiculous. I bought a stack of light leather the other day and paid 5 silver. The auctions didn't even start that lowly -- if I wanted to get it immediately, I'd have had to pay 1 gold or more. For 10 pieces of cheap leather. :o

Which European server currently has the most allegro people on it? My brother and I will each be getting a European copy of WoW soon and I may as well have a reason to choose a particular server.

Anyone on Lothar apart from Spelly?

You wouldn't want to go on Lothar xecause they speak German there.
