AFAIK there are no contest rules at the moment. They are going to be released 1 July, when the contest starts, to prevent people from working earlier. ________ |

I can give you the 2003 contest rules. And i have a SVN server repository set up here that we can use http://www.remakes.org/website/comp2003.php <-- rules I see nothing on there regarding teams, so I would say it would be OK to have Team Allegro [edit] |

Hey, if enough people are interested in this, can one of the mod's make this thread sticky for alittle while? I'd be interested in helping in some way. I have vacation time coming up |

go there and register then [edit] you can now link to screenshots or upload screenshots (either way, they are downloaded to my site) to go along with the games! [edit2] we need to elect a leader. I will add a thing so you can vote for whoever is signed up on the team allegro page at that time. |

Heh, I only nominated Mario 64 because people were talking about doing a 3d game. Doesn't really seem 'retro' though. Druid looks like a good game to make retro remake though. |

it has to be a 8-bit or 16-bit game Anyway, we were talking about ideas on team managment and leadership on #allegro, we basically came up with: CGamesPlay(he hasn't given his consent yet) and Epoch71 are the team leaders and that is about all we got so far. How does that sound? and also: if you post a game, try and post a couple screenshots for it. thanks. |

Erm... was GTA 2 released for any 8/16-bit platform? Also three leaders... isn't it a bit too much? Knowing how team projects are usually going, somebody is going to do major part of work with help from others for it to have any real chance to turn into something complete. Probably OO design could help a bit in distributing work, but I guess really not much. Anyway, if Druid is picked, you can count on me doing a lot of coding work since I was going to make it myself for this competition. ________ |

IMHO leadership should only go to some one who has a proven track record of completing game projects. And that eleminates most of us. Its easy to talk about dividing up labor, but someone needs to actually know how to make/complete a game here. Just my .02 |

i know. We need to have voting on who should be the leader. Should i add a voting system to the page on bafsoft.com, or should we just vote here on the forums? |

Who are the nominees? I think I should sit back and take care of the backend work, the site, any technical problems, etc. I was going to do the network code for the game (it needs to be network multiplayer-able) as well. |

Hmm... lemmie see what games I would like to see good remakes of: Metroid I would have to say Earthbound, Rogue, or Metroid are highest in my "I want to see/help with a remake list."

From the classics, classics, nothing better than Zelda. -- |

Yeah, but there are way to many zelda clones out there that are not complete. I mean, we could go zelda clone as long as we stick with the entry even after the contest is over to make sure it is kept up to date, but other than that, the world doesn't need another dead-clone.

This is the best Zelda clone I ever seen. You could do something really interesting, like having Zelda rescue Link instead of the classical way -- |

Yeah, openzelda is pretty good, but it is still unfotunately incomplete. Personally, I like Zelda Classic. The first, 100% complete implementation of a Zelda remake. True, it is the first Zelda for NES, but it still is cool! (Heck, it is basically a complete clone, not just a remake)

You should go add them to our list at the Team Allegro site You dont have to post screenshots, others can post them for any game (as long as they're logged in), its just nice to have shots to look at. |

I would add them, but I can only add one, BAF. The "Add game" button disappeared after adding "Rouge" (which I spelt wrong. It is "Rogue", not the french word for red...).

hmm, Add Game should be there , and i'll fix that spelling mistake (no admin page for games yet, just have to use phpmyadmin and change the row for it in my db) And what is with you guys posting gba and n64 games [edit] Carrus: try refreashing the page. I was updating the php file adding the email stuff, which can really mess up the outputting php while it is being overwritten |

Isn't retro about the age of the game, rather than the platfrom it runs on? --- |
