Quote: Which is where the 'ws' comes from. The 'b' is excessive, I'll give you that ... Not exactly - there are several girls that qualify for girl friend (with space), but there is one I'm significalntly closer to than the rest, which is why I sometimes refer to her as best girl friend (with space). The first time I used it (I'd used the long version a couple of times), I was actually curious how long it would take people to figure out. I though Ben got it pretty quickly For reference, the term was introduced in one of the threads about girlfriends when the need arose to make a clear distinction between between a girlfriend as someone you have a relationship with and a girl friend as a girl you're just friends with. I think JaTeR was the first to use it. |

So right.. Just a good friend. No need to specify that shes a "girl friend"... Not as if it matters that shes female. Friends are friends. -- |

Thomas, have a think about that. I think there's a big difference. If you fancy a girl, you're likely to find a gfws to ask for advice. She'll most likely advise you on what to do, help you figure out if it's mutual, etc. Doing so will strengthen your friendship with the gfws. Now imagine asking a guy for those favours - it won't strengthen your friendship, and you'll probably just end up spreading rumours. To strengthen your friendship with a guy, you'll probably just want to spend another night talking about random stuff in the pub (sports, how drunk so-and-so got last night, etc.). Or you might invite him to your house and play computer games with him. You wouldn't talk about the same things with a girl, would you? And you wouldn't invite her to your room so readily, in case she got the wrong idea ... -- |

I didn't say it was inaccurate; I just didn't see the point in confusing people by posting her life story -- |

I recall it being on topic at the time. She's a redhead, so its a given anyway -- |

Funnily enough, this girl is also a red-head. She has a temper, and her sex drive is through the roof. But don't generalise. Most secrets come out at a time when they're on topic, you know. That's no excuse. -- |

I also believe that in that thread, I made a point of saying that I could have said more, but refrained. Tons of men and women have a temper, so I don't think I was divulging any big secret. Should I have kept back that she was a redhead too? -- |

I'm not a redhead and I don't have a temper. Now that my big secret is out, I feel my privacy has been lost! But in all seriousness... if something is common knowledge (ie, color of hair and bad temper included) there shouldn't be a problem with telling someone - as long as it's not done in spite. |

I don't think 23 has a temper, so he wouldn't understand why people who do have a temper might not want that information spread around. It's like the time I was invited into the presence of a load of couples, me being single - the person who invited me had no problems socialising at all, so he didn't understand why I wouldn't want to go -- |

If you have a temper and it embarrasses you, then you should get rid of it. But ... being unsocial at social events is fun! I typically try to see how many people I can annoy. |

Two important differences: you actually care for Michelle, and I haven't named said girl. Quote: If you have a temper and it embarrasses you, then you should get rid of it. What do you think I've been trying to do all my life? There's a reason I stutter, you know. Quote: But ... being unsocial at social events is fun! I typically try to see how many people I can annoy. Easy for someone who doesn't get jealous to say -- |
