What's New:

r2077
* Old speech samples now selectable in the sound menu (since everybody practically begged for that female voice )
* "Avoid the spikes!" message now only appears if there are actually spikes at the end of a level
* fixes to the behavior of the fuseballs
* new enemy: mirror: has a forcefield that reflects your shots, can only be killed if it lowers its forcefield
* some graphical improvements
* fixes to the input routines
* (very) slightly reduced the difficulty level
* modified the big font slightly
* lenghtened the "combo time" slightly
* New explosion for Pulsar
* gameplay tweaks and changes to the bonus scores
* Some other minor things that i forgot...

r1871
* Found out that the game did not actually give points for tankers... now it does...
* Superzapper now works properly against tankers, killing their content as well
* Fuseballs now retreat to a random z-position instead of always all the way back to the lower end of the web
* The level you last died or exited from is now remembered and this level is then the default in the level selector (but not if you quit the game)
* Hopefully fixed the sound issues with the shot and level transition sounds
* Fully configurable joystick/pad and keyboard controls (phew...) - no analog control for joysticks yet, though...
* More options in the visual settings menu
* Nice new color gradients in the background
* The "at-least-3-levels-in-a-row-for-highscore" rule has now an exception: it does not apply if you start on level 1 - 5
* You can now select the levelset to use in the gameplay settings menu
* Played around with the starfields a bit...
* Mouse control can now be set to inverted

Public Opinion
Overall Rating: 8.8
  • 8I like it, although I just keep the fire button down and wave around with mouse frantically. Authors comment: "Old speech samples now selectable in the sound menu (since everybody practically begged for that female voice)" - can't find any such thing... :(
  • 9Very good job for this nice remake of a simple game. Very well polished. Great music and effects!
  • 9Awesome!
