Category: Space Shooters

Developers: aileron42

Ports: Windows

Source Code: Available

Author's Description: Planetfell is a game in the spirit of the classic top view space shooters where the pilot looks down onto a top view of his/her ship over a planet's surface as he/she flies around blowing things up (it would also probably fit into the arcade category as well). Features include missiles, the ability to slow time and to dive underneath the level of battle. It currently has 4 sets of planet surface graphics, as well as starfield graphics. It is the first game I have written that I enjoy playing for extended periods of time (even when not working on programming it). Try it and enjoy. Please feel free to tell me what you think.

Public Opinion
Overall Rating: 6.0
  • 6A competently put together free-scrolling shooter with good graphics and sound effects. Gameplay is just average. Maybe more variation in enemy movement and attack patterns would help. The music is too repetitive. It would be nice if entering highscore names didn't use the arcane select letters method.
  • 6@03.12.13: Reasonably fun to play and looks quite nice although some more variety wouldn't hurt (more enemies, more weapons, more music, etc.) Also certain "features" are more than slightly annoying. This game has potential but it isn't quite there yet...
  • 6Nice start, too much enemies that behave the same and buildings on the ground would be nice for bombing away =). Well and umm, more different enemies and more nice ground gfx!
