Depot Games: Outgun

Current Version: 1.0.0

Project Status: Completed

Links: Web Site

Category: Action

Developers: Fabio Cecin

Number of Players: 8+ (Game Server)

Ports: Linux, Windows

Source Code: Available

Author's Description: Outgun is a 32-player (playable via Internet, uses UDP/IP) action capture-the-flag (CTF) game.

It is cross-platform, and source code is released under the GNU GPL license.

You just download the game and it automagically finds all the game servers that are currently online!

It has simple graphics, has very low bandwidth usage (average 1.0k/sec per client), and plays smoothly as Quake III: Arena :-)

You will like it. Especially if you play with lots of people :-)

What's New:

1.0.0
After three years of development, Outgun got about 300 new features and bugfixes (I'm guessing a lower bound here). See http://koti.mbnet.fi/outgun/ or http://sf.net/projects/outgun/ and download version 1.0 today!! :-)

0.5.0
Probably the last version before Outgun II.

0.4.8
Too many stuff to mention.

Public Opinion
Overall Rating: 8.3
  • 10Very good game ;D Yes, this screens is old and in the game graphics is better(shadows, antialising ! ). ;P But hasn't got more players online. :/
  • 10This is one of the greatest allegro games out there. Don't let the screenshot above tell you otherwise because the in-game graphics are actually unbelievably enhanced! Great powerups such as speed shoes, shadow, power, and more, make this game a must-get.
  • 6The idea is great, and its a fun game, but it needs a bit of work before it can really live up to its potential.
