Author's Description: Darkwave is a puzzle game in which you must
destroy the colored blocks by putting like-colored
breaker pieces next to them. The more you break,
the more points you get. Causing chain reactions
will earn you a combo multiplier bonus.
How big of a combo can you get?

The version shown here is the very first
"public-ready" version. I am actually redesigning
the game from the ground up, as this was my first
attempt at a releasable puzzle game. Infact, this
is the first game I've gotten far enough to be able to show publicly.

REQUIREMENTS:

This game has so far only been tested on WinXP. I'm not worrying about compatibility yet, it's too early.

CONTROLS:

Left and Right arrow keys: Move left/right
Up arrow: Drop piece
Down arrow: Increase piece's speed
Space: Rotate piece
Escape: Pause menu

KNOWN BUGS:

A bug exists that sometimes allows you to move a piece inside an existing one, thus overwriting it. This happens if you're rotating real fast in an enclosed space.

Not really bugs, but don't mess around too much with the cfg/config.cfg file, I've so far been designing around the settings that come with it and you may encounter strange behavior.

MISCELLANEOUS:

The background and music files load randomly
from the data folder each time the program is run,
so if you don't like a particular song/background,
run the program again :)

  • 7Needs in game configuration to adjust sound, controls, beginning level, etc. To avoid accidental drops, pressing "UP" to drop a block should not be allowed as soon as it spawns. Other than that, the controls are fine.
