Depot Games: Dadoo

Current Version: 0.41

Project Status: Completed

Links: Web Site

Category: Puzzle

Developers: Biznaga

Number of Players: 1

Ports: Windows

Source Code: Available

Author's Description: The objective of the game is move a dice across the game-board from the start
position (blue mark) to the goal (red mark). In order to move to a new position,
the number in the dice's bottom face should match the one on the board.
Sometimes it'll be necessary to turn the dice for the next movement, but you can
turn it only once at the same board slot.

Keyboard commands:

F1 - Shows the help.
Arrows - Move the dice.
PgUp - Turn the dice counter-clockwise.
PgDn - Turn the dice clockwise.
F5 - Show/hide frames per second (FPS).
F6 - Show/hide helper leds.
F7 - Makes possible extra turns (¡cheating!).

Editor keyboard commands:

F2 - Saves current map.
F3 - Loads a map.
F4 - Cleans the board.
Home - Places start mark.
End - Places goal mark.

NOTE: The game is in Spanish but (I think) it doesn't affect the gameplay. Main menu entries are Start Map, Edit Map, Change Dice Look, Full-Screen, Credits and Exit.

  • 6Menu interface is bare, but acceptable. There obviously was time spent on the graphical side. Editor, cheat-button and the dearth of levels give the game an unfinished impression. Interface is confusing. Search this thread for some extra levels: http://www.allegro.cc/forums/thread/604279/870270
  • 7The game idea is excellent for a puzzle game. With better graphics this would hook me for hours. As it is now, the rotation of the maze is not very obvious. An isometric view would work best, combined with a 90 degree rotation option. The best puzzle games have level editors. So has this one.
