I'm out of town for a couple weeks. The Sticker was at the forefront of my mind at the airport. No, that is not sarcastic.

I got my sticker.

Hm.. how to insert pictures stored on google drive directly? The img tag doesn't like my google drive link.

Do you have the image file you used for the stickers, and then I can print my own out, thanks.

My memory is foggy, but I seem to remember something similar being done on The Daily WTF where readers could mail in something cultural or local and a mug or something would be mailed back. It was essentially a trade. We might offer something similar to pay Mark back for the good will. :) Of course, he's already pretty close to me so I'm not sure what I could send him...

Maybe I can mail him a poutine because in my experience from visiting in the past couple of years, Toronto doesn't seem to have gotten that revolution yet... :-/ If you ask for gravy on your fries, much like in Michigan, they look at you weird... :-/ At least in Michigan they oblige. I had a fancy hotel bar maiden tell me that they had no gravy and offer to put a steak sauce on the fries instead... :( It's not even Canada down there.

I am not, nor have I ever, been anything more than an occasional lurker on Reddit. It has never appealed to me as a particularly useful means for communication, though I do derive pleasure from subsets of the occasional thread that becomes viral. I think you're the only person that I have ever knowingly encountered that is a hardcore Reddit user. :P

I don't really want to put it on this laptop. I imagine this laptop will decide to randomly die in the next year... again. for the third time. Motherboard has been replaced twice. *sigh*

So I'm keeping both of them pristine for a while, till I find a good place.

[posted moved from other thread]

I GOT MINE!

It's the first letter I've ever received from someone from Canada! I'm kind of blown away by how happy that makes me. It really makes my day! I feel like a little kid again.

I've got a picture of the envelope... but I'm after I black out all the sensitive address information... I don't know if they'll be anything left to post. :o

Not sure if I should put my sticker on anything yet though. I'm (hopefully) moving soon and I don't want to attach it to something that will get damaged or thrown away.

p.s. THANKS MARK

Aren't the graphics in some wiki about Allegro mascot candidates? I might print out mine from there. Meanwhile...

That's going to be my problem.
I want to replace my laptop. It's 5 years old now but it's still a 2.6GHz i5 (first gen I think) with 8GB RAM and now it has a 512GB SSD in it... stupid thing just keeps on keepin' on.

I just upgraded my home computer CPU to an AMD FX-8370. The CPU fan can be very loud but other than that, it's been a beautiful upgrade.

I had NO IDEA that I could double my framerate by upgrading my CPU of all things.

Before, if I screen captured a game, I had to dump the frame capture rate and reduce the size (even using Open Broadcasting Software, which uses GPU acceleration for capture). Now, I can run full 1080p, with no downsampling, and still hold 60 FPS in Styx: Master of Shadows with the SAME video card. :o

Videocard is GTX 560 SE.

I'm planning on getting a GTX ~970 and a 4K TV soon if the "move" doesn't completely bankrupt me. I want to experiment with 4K and explore what's possible.

I'm thinking of making a shop where you could order stickers (and/or perhaps other Allegro paraphernalia) if you want replacements or whatever. Funds could go to Allegro donations.

Alternatively, scotch tape. >:( Miranda has a hot glue gun if you need it.

Such a shop would be neat, Mark, but also probably underutilized.

My girlfriend appears to have moved my envelop. >:( I'll be upset if it ends up in the landfill or recycling depot...

I'd say go for it. Most people don't even try. If the risks and investment are small, you really have nothing to lose. You'll have a fun little adventure to remember the rest of your days.

That being said, I'd "imagine" (but maybe I'm wrong!) that stickers would be purchasable at most "we make t-shirt" kinds of places.
