http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD2LRROpph0 Saw this on BBC, the lyrics are just so bad. Even the tune makes Dizzy's sound good "gotta choose which seat shall I sit in", "Today is Saturday and the day after is Sunday" are just so deep and thought provoking. Maybe Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings of Greenbridge, Essex, England is writing lyrics now? By reading this sig, I, the reader, agree to render my soul to Bob Keane. I, the reader, understand this is a legally binding contract and freely render my soul. |

Holy crap, that is terrible. Edit: I just noticed that it says, "As seen on: tosh.comedycentral.com" -- is it supposed to be funny? It looks like it's supposed to be serious. __________________________________________________ |

From what I could gather it is intended to be a serious video... It wasn't made by Comedy Central; only featured on a show (for funnies). -- acc.js | al4anim - Allegro 4 Animation library | Allegro 5 VS/NuGet Guide | Allegro.cc Mockup | Allegro.cc <code> Tag | Allegro 4 Timer Example (w/ Semaphores) | Allegro 5 "Winpkg" (MSVC readme) | Bambot | Blog | C++ STL Container Flowchart | Castopulence Software | Check Return Values | Derail? | Is This A Discussion? The robots have been taking over. The revolution started with Auto-tune and vocal prism. Very soon the world will be talking and singing in a very monotone voice. That's it! I'm going to do a song with a funky back beat and me singing with Auto-Tune set to a single D#. I'll do it live with acoustic guitar and a loop in the background. I'll call it "Mighty sharp" and it will have some questionable lyrics that most people won't understand. Anyone have an annoying loop I could use that's in D#? Then the 'official video' can be a bunch of cats being chased by dachshunds (wiener dogs). I'll be rich before the end of the month. ---- |

I've witnessed a trend that crap producers are most eager to attribute a sucky vocal performance to expensive hard-/software. The Autotune is relatively subtle in the track. Her performance simply is crap. She sings with the most annoying nasal known to man. The Autotune is probably on the same preset as in Bruno Mars' Grenade (albeit with a bit less smoothing). If anything, cranking autotune's smoothing[1] to zero to the max could've actually saved the track. The genious thing is the people behind the video make a nice amount of moolah. The more people sread how they hate it, the more people will flock to watch it and spread the word of hate. Guess who pockets the easy cash from youtube ad revenue? References

Reddit had quite a few funny threads about this song. This song is entertaining, but not in the way its creators imagined. |

jhuuskon said: ...could've actually saved the track. Nothing could have saved this track for me. What I hate about it are the "lyrics". You can't even call those lyrics. If anybody spent more than a minute "writing" them then they should probably poke a fork in their eye and call it a career. Worse still, if somebody "freestyled" them then they should drink a glass of gasoline and chase it with a lit match to ensure they never attempt to do so ever again. I absolutely hate lyrics that don't rhyme and/or don't have any real meaning. The only part about this track that is even remotely pleasant is the background beat, but there's nothing special about that. It's the same standard beat you hear in a lot of pop and hip hop songs... So basically this song is a tired beat and completely unnecessary sing-talking. That said, the girl that did it acoustically with a guitar (last video in Dennis' post) actually turned it into something I could tolerate. She has talent. I still wouldn't want to hear it again (the song sucks and I think she knows it too), but at least she made it suck less. jhuuskon said: The genious thing is the people behind the video make a nice amount of moolah. I don't really mind the company that made the video making money from it. It is entertaining in a sick way. It's just not enjoyable. What annoys me is that people are actually buying the track and the "artist" is actually making money on it, even if "only" a few 10s of thousands (almost a year's income for many people)... That's the really sick part. -- acc.js | al4anim - Allegro 4 Animation library | Allegro 5 VS/NuGet Guide | Allegro.cc Mockup | Allegro.cc <code> Tag | Allegro 4 Timer Example (w/ Semaphores) | Allegro 5 "Winpkg" (MSVC readme) | Bambot | Blog | C++ STL Container Flowchart | Castopulence Software | Check Return Values | Derail? | Is This A Discussion? jhuuskon said: The Autotune is relatively subtle in the track. BULL SHIT! L0L! It's like they mapped it out on a keyboard and piped the MIDI directly into the plug-in or the box. There might be some pitch bending in the MIDI but it's a very heavily auto-tuned vocal track. Of course there are worse when it comes to Auto-tune but this is pretty thick... Auto-tune adds tuned harmonic distortion as well which is why it sounds kind of nasally... But her voice is pretty nasally when she sings "Friday Friday." I actually have the box and the plug-in. Just need to remember what closet they're hiding in. Yes, Auto-tune is coming out of the closet. It's totally gay. ---- |

If auto-tune is good enough for X-Factor/American Idol it's good enough for me. They are producing the raw talent of the future. Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. XBOX:chucklepie |

StevenVI said: That is your complaint?! There's a lot of music out there that isn't rap. No, but this is basically a poor attempt at rap... She's not singing. She's sing-talking, which is basically a really crappy impersonation of rap. Most lyrics in all genres rhyme some, even if not always, but if they don't it's because the lyrics are actually being sung in a pleasant/interesting way. If you take out the rhyming and the singing then all you have is talking over music... If that's considered singing then I guess we're all singers because we've all done that. StevenVI said:
Oh wait, you're not even talking about rap. The good rap music is always saying something in the lyrics (even if you don't relate/agree with what they're saying). You must listen to shitty rap music if you don't think they're saying anything... StevenVI said: Yeah, it really REALLY pisses me off to know that people make money making things I don't personally care for. Like Pepsicola -- they've got nothing on Coca-Cola! The entire planet seems to be in agreement that the song sucks. At the same time, you have idiots actually buying the thing. Probably because it's "popular" and they think that always means it's cool... Clearly not always the case. There was a video on YouTube of two kids listening to it. One of them was showing the other one. The guy first seeing it just kept saying "this is stupid, this sucks", and the other kid was "singing" along to it. When questioned for liking it his only real comment was "it's really popular ... it has half a million views". -- acc.js | al4anim - Allegro 4 Animation library | Allegro 5 VS/NuGet Guide | Allegro.cc Mockup | Allegro.cc <code> Tag | Allegro 4 Timer Example (w/ Semaphores) | Allegro 5 "Winpkg" (MSVC readme) | Bambot | Blog | C++ STL Container Flowchart | Castopulence Software | Check Return Values | Derail? | Is This A Discussion?
