5 Games, Name your Price!

Proceeds Go to Support Charities and Developers of the Games.

Yes, You could pay as little as a penny to legally own these DRM Free games. (be kind of a jerk move but whatever)

C'mon, it's time to support some indie causes.

I paid $25.00 since I already own 2 of the games on the list.

Thank you for posting this. Out of all of those games, I only own World of Goo.

Wow that's quite generous.

Retail for all the games would be $80 normally. It's also nice to now own a DRM free version of a game I already had.

I've owned Gish since way back on Steam. I've bought World of Goo 3 times now. Once on Steam, Once when they were practically giving the game away DRM Free. And now.
Still worth every penny IMO.

Note that Frictional Games is offering the entire Penumbra collection for only $5 to anyone that buys the Humble Indie Bundle! I already have it (somewhere) so I don't think it's worthwhile for me (unless they've ported it to Windows; I think my copies are Linux only; Edit: this seems to be the case).

Went ahead and bought the Windows version of the Penumbra collection too (for $5 with the coupon given to me when installing Penumbra Overture from the Humble Indie Bundle). For $5 I can't go wrong. Unfortunately, there's currently no telling how the hardware and software will cooperate in Linux[1] (as I mentioned earlier, I already have the whole collection for Linux). At least now I'll get a chance to play them (since I've been doing a lot of gaming in Windows since I installed Windows 7 I haven't spent much time in Linux lately).

Lugaru is pretty cool 8-)

I have yet to try the others.

I find Lugaru pretty challenging (I'm on the middle difficulty setting). :-/ I'm only on like the third level and I can't beat it. I can defeat the first two enemies, but the third one is too 1337 and destroys me... :( I'm too tired to continue playing so I quit for now.

I tried Aquaria as well. Looks like it has some strong gameplay elements and a bit of story as well (something that it seems Lugaru lacks).

Both games seem to have poorly defined control schemes, however. Maybe I'll get used to them, but so far they seem a little bit confusing and/or unbalanced. I'm getting by, but it requires conscious effort and I don't always do what I intend.

I had problems with Aquaria at first, but it didn't take me too long to get used to it. If I can, anyone can. ;)

I just sent 1 penny all to charity.

I don't even know what I bought.

I think it's kinda cool that the penumbra series sort of started here (with http://www.allegro.cc/depot/TheProject2 and Fiend).

That's pretty cool, I remember Fiend. That game creeped me out when I played it forever ago.

World of Goo is fun. The rest... not so much. Aquaria is flat out boring, and Black Plague (Overture's sequel) was so much better.

** EDIT **

Have played Aquaria a bit more. I think I've almost gotten the hang of it now. It's kind of boring and not LOTS of fun, but it's not bad either. The story might get interesting. It's a little slow though. I like the singing mechanic a lot.

I played Lugaru a bit more and realized that there is actually a story mode! I thought it was just the challenges. Still, for all intensive purposes, the story mode is challenges with text dialog. Either way, that at least gives a purpose to the fighting. It's still really hard though.

I just started playing Penumbra Overture. It's truly quite scary. It's one of those games that puts you in a dark unknown with limited light resources... :'( The physics engine sort of reminds me a bit of VALVe's Source engine (i.e., Half-Life 2). You can pick up objects and manipulate them in the world, etc. It's pretty good. So far I get the impression that there will be no real weapons, but it's too early to say. It seems like the game is played by exploring the darkness for items and trying to not let what ever is in the darkness kill you. With such limited light resources (the flashlight batteries die quickly) it's really scary though. At least, I find. It's precisely the kind of situation I would not willing place myself in in real life. Here I am in it and there doesn't seem to be a solution except keep moving forward. :'(

My cousin was asking me today about what free games he could download so I purchased another license for the Humble Indie Bundle and gifted it to him.

For all intensive purposes, I don't care about kittens. >:( For all intents and purposes, blame Canadians' lack of annunciation.

What does annunciation have to do with anything? ???

You're weird.

Enunciation then. Damn English.

** EDIT **

Finished Penumbra Overture - Part 1. On to Part 2... Errm, tomorrow, when I'm not so tired. It was pretty well done. There are certainly some frustrating moments with the combat controls, but once you get the hang of things it's not too bad. The story was pretty well written and the level design was quite good. It really does remind me a lot of Half-Life. Anyway, based on that I'm really glad I used the coupon code to buy the entire collection as well (though again, I already had it for Linux, having it for Windows unfortunately still means a slightly more reliable gaming experience).

For those of you who have purchased the Humbie Indie Bundle, I suggest playing Penumbra Overture first and decide quickly on getting the entire collection while the $5 deal lasts.

Deal just got sweeter. Samorost 2 was added to game list.

I didn't care for it. The installer for Samorost 2 failed to add entries to the Start Menu and doesn't appear under the installed programs list in Windows. It also doesn't appear to have an uninstaller. On top of that, there didn't seem to be any actual instructions for playing. I just randomly figured out a few screens worth by frustratingly exploring the screen with my mouse, but eventually got stuck and fed up (just down the ladder, standing on the pipe). I deleted the folder created in C:\Program Files, hoping that's all that was actually "installed". I'm not very impressed with its packaging. If they're not actually installing anything then they might as well just stick to the compressed archive like a couple of the others did and let me run it from some extraction point of my choosing. When I looked in the installed folder prior to deleting it, I didn't even see so much as a README file.

I asked for my penny back. I did not want that game.
