Hmm I am half way trough the unveiling vid. is it me or dose it seem to be not as a big deal as they are making it to be. Im not even getting any ideas of how to make money off of this thing. My latest invention will be way bigger news. wow |

I still see no proof that Facebook got the way it is for any reason related to its initial exclusivity. I find it laughable that Facebook has an 'image' in any way comparable to that when it was exclusive to college students. Then, it was cool to be on it. Then they allowed everyone to join, and also allowed those randoms apps. The new 'informal rules' were completely unrelated to the initial set of 'informal rules', nobody used to invite everyone to be a Pirate/Ninja/Vampire before those things we instituted. The reason Facebook is not like 4chan is not because of some long forgotten initial conditions, it is because of current conditions (privacy restrictions, moderated images etc). The 'depth' of discussion in Facebook groups is scarcely of higher level than on 4chan, so even those restrictions do not help the 'wisdom' of the mob from showing through. If google really opens it up, and say perhaps develop a wave communication protocol standard for others to build clients for. And if mail providers can figure out a way to integrate their accounts to wave compatible accounts, I can see it replacing e-mail. I was watching the release video and it's very true, E-mail was invented long ago and by design is a really ancient communication method. _____________________________________ |

I just clicked through 5 emails looking for the one that had the address at which we were supposed to meet. Not to mention the number of times I've forgotten to hit reply-all, and I'm the "tech-savy" guy! If it was all in a wave, I'd know where to find it. It reminds me of a lecture where the professor was talking about the future of the web and tech devices. He said we'd see fewer and fewer "all-in-one" devices, and more devices created for special uses. Wave, for example, would be ideal for collaborating with multiple people.
