She's no Sarah Brightman... But not bad... I've heard better though...

I remember watching it yesterday. The Wiki news feed said "susan boyle takes the internet by storm" or something like that. I was like, seriously? I care more about the killing of Somalian Pirates. Rrrrr.

As for Susan, I honestly didn't think she was that spectacular. :-/

She's so yesterday's news.

Who would have thought that there are some ugly people out there with above average singing voices? :o

Nice... I like how they beefed up the reverb on his vocals... Didn't work for Matthew's though. :P

And no Matthew... Just because ugly people can sing and you can't, doesn't make you handsome... ;D

I fell in love. Seriously, she is very talented, but I've heard better singers. She should educate herself and work on some issues there. A bit weak in the lower register, and nothing implied that there was body in the higher register either. That's a typical musical song that doesn't require a very large ambitus. But she shines on the stage and the audience falls for her. The video might be edited and exaggerating the reaction, but the contact was definitely there.

I think the whole thing is going to turn sour when she sings anything other than "I dreamed a dream". Either that or people are going to give her the :o regardless of what she sounds like from here on out. Apparently she was on some other show like "Scotland's Got Talent" and the judge shot her down.

Yea, I think they definitely tweaked that part a little. The whole clip was edited to emphasize the contrast, which is what this is really all about. The story is "ugly people can sing too! it's such an inspiration!" It's all stoked by a superficial premise.

Besides, someone must have styled her.

So what is a "Yes" supposed to denote? "Yes, we will let you live"?

Same as with the US and Canadian talent shows, means you get to stay on the show to compete some more.

Eg: "It's the most unexpected yes I've given in 3 years" => "I was ready to kill you here and now"

I guess the people at my dad's work were talking about this because this morning I heard him on the phone with my brother telling him to check it out for a laugh and then a few hours ago told me to. :) I didn't think her singing was spectacular, but it was still quite good and certainly unexpected. I would like to see her improve (not that I'll be watching the show... ::)). I don't think she was overly confident.

An impressive voice, especially if you close your eyes. I thought Flawless were a lot more entertaining though. The crazy headstand alone was worth 3 yeses!

A coworker showed it to me last week. She is too old to appeal young people into buying CDs, though, so she won't win.

Her versatility is NILL, and we'll see that soon enough. Enjoy it while it lasts. :-/

I prefer the Beat Freaks. They got even better the next week.

Freakishly long head spin at the end of that second video, she puts on sun glasses while spinning too. ;D

She is a good singer, but no where up to Celine Dion.

As for her looks, if she could enter that show where ugly women come out beautiful, a lot of people would be surprised...

Probably because she was styled to be kind of ugly.

I don't care how good she is at singing - I'd still chew my arm off.

Would you sleep with her for a cool million? (or at least ask her to share it)

http://au.tv.yahoo.com/news/article/-/article/5511295/susan-boyle-offered-1-million-to-lose-virginity-on-camera/

They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas.
