Hey guys,

It was announced yesterdayat GDC 2008: Microsoft is opening the XBOX360 console to all XNA hobbyists-made games! (for free in a first phase)

My game, Little Gamers, is one of the 7 games chosen to serve as a "preview" of the kind of content that will arrive soon on Live.

So you can now download and play the game for free on your XBOX 360!

Check out that awesome comic ;)

I'm pretty sure that this will boost XNA as one of the best game dev library ever made!

(Oh and you can make XNA games on Zune now ;) )

Yeah, after I heard about MS finally opening up the Community Arcade, I might get a 360 afterall. Give me an excuse to work with C# (I've been meaning to, but haven't have a reason).

That's awesome. My team and I are using XNA for our current project, so I guess this is good news for us, too!

Congratulations. That's an achievement to be on the big screen.

Congrats! Have you been asked to join a developer yet? ;)

By the way, you based the game in that comic... shouldn't you pay royalties whenever it goes on sale? (that is, if you are not the author of the comic, or if you are planning on selling it)

Well since I don't think its ever going to be sold. I don't think that's an issue. He just had to get permission for using the likeness.. And IIRC, the artist of the actual comic provided the character artwork at least.

It's funny because, as I was looking over xbox live stuff yesterday, a tangent from searching for N+, I read the gdc wrapup and saw your title on the XNA section. I was like, "oh, it's Epsi's game and it's free!" Unfortunately, I don't have a hdd on my 360, so I can't play XNA games. :'(

I can't play XNA games (created by the community), but I can play Arcade games (created by developer). N+ is an arcade game, which is due to the success of N.

Is this a technical limitation (lack of hard drive) or a Microsoft rule? :-/ How do Arcade Games work differently than XNA games? :-/

I'm not sure, but the XNA games have to run through the Microsoft XNA Launcher. The size of the launcher seems to be small enough to fit on my memory card, so I'm not sure why it requires a hdd. :-/

Could just be a Microsoft thing. ::)

Configulations, Epsi. I'd get a copy if I had an XBOX360, but we went the PS3 route instead. I, for one, do not approve of all this Microsoft-product-locking technology. Why can't Microsoft ever just produce a compatible API so that it reaches more customers, rather than back people into a corner and continue to beat them with sticks?

Because they don't feel like it?

For once MS isn't doing something for hobbyist, I don't see the need to bash them as a reaction. They do not need (business-wise) to promote Linux or MAC as far as I know, but the XBOX360 platform.
