Trying to keep my laptop running for more than a week without some re-install required is my current game. |

Just finished downloading Battle for Wesnoth and I played through the in-game tutorial. I like turn based strategy games and it's pretty fun so far. Thanks OICW for recommending it , I might never have found it otherwise. My Website! | EAGLE GUI Library Demos | My Deviant Art Gallery | Spiraloid Preview | A4 FontMaker | Skyline! You are welcome. My biggest concern about this game is its timewasting capabilities, which I sort of don't like when I need something to be done What I especially like about it is its simplicity, it's really simple, entertaining and scenarios don't last forever like in other turn-based strategies. Flamers. A man has asked for help.. And most of the games mentioned above, pretty much require mouse. An ultimate solution is IMO NFS(Need For Speed). Racing only requires keys(well, or other tools, but keys do it).. Currently the latest is ProStreet. On some not high graphics detail, it should work I think. I'm currently downloading it for my laptop. I'm not sure if it is legal to post ed2ks here, claiming it's for imperforating purposes only. Edit: Warcraft III (better TFT..) also might do, but no dreaming of competitive play without a mouse. The stretched resolution can be fixed in the registry. (Under XP easily, vista, should also be possible: I'm not sure of it's compatibility with vista though. But, should work.. to popular game for not to be ported) Edit1: Heroes of Might and Magic (IV, V..) RPG/Strategy, turn based. V I'm sure handles wide screen.

Quote: And most of the games mentioned above, pretty much require mouse. That is why I recommended those, who on on hand require mouse, but on the other hand can be played completely with just a touchpad, since they do not rely on as many clicks as possible as in the case of Warcraft III: The Ultimate Clickfest, but rely on thinking. Plus I saw some maniacs who played Counter Strike really good even on touchpad. [My website][CppReference][Pixelate][Allegators worldwide][Who's online] |

Most != All.. & well.. I actually have never tried cs on touchpad. But it smells to me, like something different: Not nice controls(movement) but: cheat-like ability to snipe precise, and fast.

Touchpads are for inferior products anyway. Trackpoint FTW. You don't deserve my sig. |

Well I haven't tried a shooter on touchpad either nor do I have that desire. On the other hand I used to play Wolfenstein 3d on trackpoint and it was actually quite good. I played on it Dune II as well. Edit: [My website][CppReference][Pixelate][Allegators worldwide][Who's online] |

After a while it does get uncomfortable and ultimately painful on the back of the hand if you don't crank the sensitivity to the max. A proper position of the hand is also vital - the thumb should be straight on the buttons and the forefinger as straight as possible on the stick. If you arch your hand even the slightest bit it will get uncomfortable after a while. You don't deserve my sig. |

Jonathan: jhuuskon: it all depends also where the thing is located. Whether it's in the middle of keyboard or under space key instead of touchpad. I was quite comfortable with it in the old days of Texas Instruments TravelMate 4000M laptop (still have one at home). But then it began to be less and less comfortable. I admit that it was partially, because my dad is wicked and has really low mouse sensitivity that I have to swipe my finger two or three times on touchpad to get from one side of a screen to the other me shrughs and by the fact that my laptop has touchpad only. Playing UT was fine on a trackpoint. However on a touch pad, it is horrible. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I think that's a fairly good list of things to try out.

My first 486 laptop had a trackball, which was great for pixelling and for some games, but not ideal for Quake because you couldn't keep fingers on the buttons. An extra optical mouse would fit in your pocket. |

I modern trackballs, could detect pressure and refer to it as to a click.. Not like I ever used any of these though.
