For some courses at university i must program in java, so i thought it would be a good idea to continue game programming with this language, at least until the exam (in a couple weeks).
I'm not asking for the bestest game lib evah, just something simple (if allegro-like even better) for 2d games. Suggestions?

Nah, no need for opengl :)

I was just looking for something more straightforward and game oriented than SWING

The only one I have tried is processing but that was some time ago.
(My old motherboard died the same day I tried processing. But those two events are probably not related)

Isn't there an allegro binding floating around somewhere?
