Would you rather: a) Become one of the best hobbyist game developers and personality, redefining "geek" as being yourself and being cool at the same time while making an RPG or action game comparible to commercial SNES games. b) Have a girlfriend. Discuss...

as bad as I want a girlfriend, i'd vote A. Girlfriends cost money. Option A makes money. If you have money you generally have a better chance of attracting a girlfriend, even if you're a nerd. ------------ |

B. I'm an extremely social person. If the girl in question was a really nice and at least moderately beautiful by my definition, and if she was VERY willing to commit heavily to the relationship, yes, I would take the girlfriend. I don't take very well to loneliness. Money isn't a problem if you find another job. |

A, without a question. Hell, I consider girlfriends nothing short of a waste of time and a horrible thing to begin with. You couldn't get me to choose B if you paid me to do it. This is a weird question. It's like asking "Would you rather be rich and famous or have your legs cut off?" -- |

I dunno. Someone asked for an interesting thread, so I tried to make one.

A. At least your code/programs won't hate you for being you. |

Girls are hot. Option B. Or even better get a girlfriend whose hot and into game programming to be a co-author. Actually an artist would work too. |

X-G: You feel the same way about you getting a boyfriend too right? I would choose option c: Dustin Dettmer: Wouldn't it be easier to hope for winning the lottery? |

I have to confess... I suck at game development, and I'm a lamer, so I probably couldn't achieve either... I choose A.

This is uninteresting. You're putting up manliness against the desire for a woman's companionship. We all know what Maddox has to say about this. {"name":"beatkid1.jpg","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/0\/e\/0e42ceaedbd9f8a6cb82465564352596.jpg","w":307,"h":317,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/0\/e\/0e42ceaedbd9f8a6cb82465564352596"} (Yes, I know the image has no relevance to what I originally wrote.) |

Companionship leads to marriage. Marriage leads to sex. Sex leads to kids. Kids leads to trouble... Unless you keep things on a companionship level.

I suppose it depends on what makes you happy ultimately. If you derive enjoyment from your creations and the hard work that went into them Id choose option A). If you want to explore the physilogical and pschological anomaly that society defines as a "relationship" then choose option B). Id say people who choose option B) are just wimps who cant handle option A) but thats just me. |

DTK:What are you basing these crap statements on? Since when is happiness The Goal that everybody should be striving for? |

It should be The Goal that we should be striving for, because if we achieve our goal, we get happiness anyway... Or something.

You haven't put much thought into this, have you? Again, of course "happiness" is your goal. Very primitive thought process you have going there. I suggest you reconsider. Read my previous post, I mention goals for all (who are under this system of working for the goal). BTW, A goal is that which should be striven for. If the goal is "reached" at some point, it should no longer be striven for, thus making it not a goal. This thread is silly. I do not normally reck a "good" thread. |

DTK: I think option B sucks compared to option A. You should have been more specific. In any case, I'll go with the original option B. I'd like to have a girlfriend.

Quote: Who said you needed sex to fertilize?
That has nothing to do with the fact that campanionship is not sex. Companionship with woman != sex with said woman != fertilizing said woman through questionable alternatives. |
