ratio of humerus to height

I'm doing a simple project for a statistics class, regarding predicting the height of a person based on the length of their humerus. Does anyone here want to lend their measurements? I've been measuring males who are at least 18 years old. Anyone else need not apply. ;)

I thought it would be interesting to have more data than just people from my town. The humerus is the bone between the elbow and shoulder. I've been measuring the underside from the elbow snug to the armpit. (Ie, making an L shape with the elbow, with the hand pointing up.)

In inches, I'm 11 to 70.75.

So, if any of you are extremely bored, you now have something to do. ;D

I'm 169cm tall, the humerus is 34cm.

Edit: Because i replied, and was the first, it means i'm the most bored of all. :)

You don't deserve my sig.

Left arm or right arm?
And how the hell do you measure? I either can't hold the measure in two spots, or if I manage that I can't read what it says...

I did my left arm, but mine are the same length. ;) To measure myself, I used a 60" long tape ruler and taped it securely on the elbow side. Measuring someone else is a lot easier to do. ;)

Humerus: about 10 1/4 inches.
Height: 66 inches.

let's see humerus 31 cm
length 180 cm
I think you may have to take into account age-groups, 180 was average for mine but nowadays 18 years old are already pushing 183.
No respect for their elders I tell you ;)
Oh and location may play a role too. I bet I can spit over (almost) any Chinese student that lives here with ease :-*

Comparing the results, I almost feel like I did something wrong....
From the tip of my elbow to the inner side of my arm pit is 17". Give or take 0.5" :)

I'm 78" tall.

Derezo, it may very well be that you're just a tall mother effer. :P You just tied the tallest guy at my school who we all call "the tall man" and who is very insecure about how tall he is and is easily pushed over due to his high center of gravity, and who often has to stoop down or pick someone up just to talk to them, often alluded to as Wilt or Goliath or CN Tower with legs, banging his head on doorways, pipes, and clouds.

OK, now do me a favour and say "Do you find something comical about the way I look when I am driving my vehicle? Everyone needs an automobile, even the very tall. This happened to be the largest auto I could afford." ;D

Stupid midgets.. I tell ya, there are so many doorways that shouldn't even be legal.. ::)

Goodbytes. You do me a favor, and stand in the middle of the road in your underwear. Then march. ;)
Smile, and wave at the people ;D

Almost every time I meet someone new, they crouch, look up, and say "How's the weather up there?"

...it gets old, people. ::)
Sometimes I feel like picking them up, and saying "You tell me."

Thanks for the numbers so far everyone! I could still use a few more. I'll be putting together a few simple graphs tonight.

The average appears to be in the 0.16 range, with a few people with extra long arms. ;) It could just be due to slightly different measuring (as it's a weird thing to measure), but it'll make the graphs more interesting. ;)

It's all that driving around like a madman and carrying firearms. Military service is bad for you, I say!

The heaviest firearm i carried was the light MG, 8.5kg, and the heaviest piece of weaponry was the AT mine, 10kg. Not a big deal. Well, your body might have been crushed under that weight though... ;)
