I agree. So many people use it's when it's blatantly its! Specially since it's quicker to write its. Rather change all it's to its. Use it's in the wrong place once more and nnnNNNNEE!! ne ne NNNEEE. There's something wrong with me.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of that. However, we did do a "pilot test" for an English spelling, punctuation and grammar thing they were possibly introducing the subsequent year. Maybe things are looking up, at least in this country -- |

Your teacher liked that green light, too? Huh, stupid light. People don't need to be, on the whole, 'informed crusaders' to change language for the better. The language is still changing towards my side, and the "rule" is very very clearly a flaw in the standard. It's not like this is going to hurt backwards compatability or anything ... there's no reason not to just fix the language! Edit: Fine, pretty now.

Zaphos: I think you'll find that no informed writer deviates from the its vs it's rule. The Internet may be saturated with the error, but published books are not. Good luck in getting your wish Capital E for English by the way. -- |

Bruce: I think you'll find that there are some who do; 'tis possible to get all kinds of low-grade crap published, and people rely more and more on spellcheck and MS grammar to do the work for them ... About Gnolam's corrections ... heh, funny. I'm not writing an english paper, though.

When I first saw the topic in Recent Threads, all I could think was " ... Monty Python's Flying Circus". If you've seen it, you know what I mean. -- |

Thank you very much X-G. Now I won't be able to get the picture of Terry Jones playing a piano wearing nothing but a bow tie out of my head... -- |

Gnolam Plus the plural form of each, and the 2 VERY rare plural-only cases. You don't deserve my sig. |

Gnolam This is probably the complete list of cases which apply to noun "Gnolam". If I remember correctly, there are still a couple of cases which look just them same as the ones already mentioned, but still have a whole another meaning (determined by the context). Also there are cases which do not apply to this word not all (after all, what would complete chaos be without having a different set of rules for nouns, verbs, etc), not to mention all the special rules and exceptions for everything! ^^ An example how three other finnish words build their cases. Gnolam - Gnolameja - Gnolamiksi - Gnolameiksi Puu - Puita - Puuksi - Puiksi Kissa - Kissoja - Kissaksi - Kissoiksi Lanka - Lankoja - Langaksi - Langoiksi
Heh. And Bruce here considers "its" as a big linguistical problem. -- |

Why not, Finnish is cool. I'd like to learn it, but I don't think it's gonna happen. |

The usage of ITS and IT'S depends on the sentence. IT'S, according to every english class I've been in for 13 years, means IT IS. ITS, according to my english classes, means ownership to the object that IT is pointing to. Of course that is just American (specifically Indiana english) which acordding to everyone that isn't American it's a dumb way of talking. The same could be said about Americans that don't speak a certain language. For example, when I learned Spanish I thought the way the worded sentences was kind of annoying and the way they spelled some of the words got to me too. That is my opinion though I don't get picky when someone messes up the language:P. It's not my place to correct someone or to piss and moan about little pathetic mistakes like that, but it is my place to learn to code and draw better so I can get into a faster mode to code games and do graphics for them quicker. So with that I'm off to code and draw both 2D paper and pencil art and pixel art.

Aha, so you do know the difference between "its" and "it's". Then your error in the other thread was inexcusable! INEXCUSABLE!! ... you are aware that you just said the exact same thing that I said in my first post, right? I mean, I don't usually read the whole thread if it's very long, but talk about skipping the first post!

So what is the correct usage for the following sentences: "Its easier just to accept that other people aren't as particular about grammar. Its simply a matter of removing the nipple clamp from your perineum."

I only point things out when people make the same mistakes repeatedly and are otherwise good at spelling. That way, their games, and other polished work where spelling does matter, might be improved BAHAHAHAHAHAHA... -- |
