Well, what the topic says.. I'd like to hear suggestions for any new movie that is worthy to watch, as well as resources that are regularly updated which name such movies, as majority of things created are really junk.

I could suggest The Social Network to anyone who haven't seen it yet, as it's a rare case of a movie closely related with computers without anything that makes puke anyone that has any understanding of them. I also found this movie very inspiring for coding

Are you kidding me? I love movies where computers can "enhance" a 4x4 pixel image of a car so that the licence plate is clearly readable, chirping along merrily while doing so.

I typically watch a movie about 100 times in a row, just looping all day for a week or two. Right now I'm watching Home Alone 2. It's the shiz.

Well of course advanced algorithms and super computers can do anything, regardless human understanding of the things, but it often gets me bored.. Unless I drink at the moment, or am with someone to laugh at this thing..

I've seen them use a 4x4 pixel image of the window on a building, and bounce off the reflections on the glass back across the road, bounce back behind where the camera took the picture, and be able to read a finger print on a business card in the pocket of the guy operating the camera. And they were only getting warmed up!

Couldn't find. Found and downloading Gnolam's correction.. Though it's the only movie from the list I haven't seen, and couldn't find on the national Russian torrent tracker, and the one on piratebay doesn't have seeders, I'll see what I can do though.

Downloading 11 of the 18 movies, as 6 I've seen and 1 I have downloaded and not wathed yet. However, the 6 I've seen- I loved all. So I believe I'll have about 20 hours of pleasure watching these creations. Thanks a LOT Lenny, really.

Oh however, the District 9.. It has a very nice concept, but the movie is actually made fairly poorly.. Especially the storyline is.. Silly, although not terrible.

I would also strongly suggest Amadeus a very nice movie, about a very nice story, featuring very nice music with very nice actors playing. If you think about it, it's the movie is result of work of a couple of geniuses during different ages, and a great director.

As far as Apocalypse Now is concerned, I'd definitely recommend watching the Redux version. For Blade Runner the latest director's cut is a must see.

Blade runner I've seen, probably the director's cut.. About Apocalypse Now(hail SC2 Banshee), yes the one I'm getting is eventually a redux version.

I've started watching "Experiment", and in the beginning there they're discussing "The Red Dawn"(movie), has anyone seen it? Any comments about it? I'm downloading..

I definitely agree about Bladerunner, as one of the most important pieces of the movie is removed from the non-director's cut. I don't think the Redux version of Apocalypse Now really adds a lot of impact to the story. In some ways I found it detracted from it, in that the French woman's story about her husband is such a blatant reference to the "duality of man" theme that is important to the story (it was one of the key elements to Heart of Darkness as well). I did like the funeral scene that was added with that part of the movie however.

It's a fairly tacky 80s movie about a soviet invasion of America. I like it a lot, even if just for sentimental reasons.

Guess I'll like it too, although I don't have any reasons to think democracy is any better than communism.

Finished watching the experiment.. Overall nice idea, and etc'.. I also enjoyed watching it.. But it's Lord of the Flies by Golding..

William Golding was an astute observer of humanity.
"The Experiment" is simply a dramatization (or over-dramatization, rather) of the Stanford prison experiment.

However, regarding Golding's observation.. Meh. I doubt it's this way.. We're mixed. If the morality of this movie, or Lord of the Flies was right, we'd all end up in complete anarchy. And we're not in complete anarchy.

Oh well, then it's bit different.. Although I bet it was inspired by the literature creation I mentioned.. However, what extremely matters to be making "big conclusions" is who these people are. I'm not attempting to flatter, but there should be quite a difference between British/American students(with their college and high school cruel traditions), or Swedish/Danish/Finish. And in case of the movie.. Well, the people participated were all in need for money, overall "the injured kind", which, well.. Acted accordingly. However, I really loved the main prison guard, good actor overall and here I loved him especially.

Jesus Camp is good.

Oh! And for you music composery types, Glass: a portrait of Philip in twelve parts is very good. I'm not exactly a big Philip Glass fan, but it's a very accurate and real portrait of what life is like as a composer.

Looking through my box of WalMart DVD's and directory full of, uh, <cough>acquired<cough> avi's, I only see "Good Will Hunting" and "The Last Samurai" as movies I'd hate to lose. Maybe some childish part of me identifies with the protagonists or something ewww.

There are two recently made movies I wish to see:

-Unstoppable.
-You will meet a tall dark stranger.

Unstoppable freight train, huh? To hear what they warned us about as kids, you only have to put a few pennies on the tracks

Oh, I knew I forgot something: Old Boy a post 2000 film that I really liked (mainly because it's not a Hollywood production), which I can't say about many films made in the past decade, except films made by Coen brothers:

• O brother, where art thou?

• No country for old men

Which reminds me that I should look into more of their films.

Probably not, but in my opinion it makes even deeper probe into a human psyche.

axilmar: I just finished watching The Man From Earth. Really good movie. Really makes me think more about the bullshit people eat each day.

Just finished watching Apocalypse Now. An outstanding creation indeed. It feeds my thoughts regarding how harsh and hypocritical military actions usually are, as well as enhances my opinion that democracy is pretty sucky regime as well.

Ooh, and.. While the main character is at the French house, they say something about Roosevelt ambitions after finishing off the Japanese.. Well, Roosevelt died before WWII ended, and I wonder why I know it better than the guys made the movie..

I've got to add that The Man from Earth was one of two movies that I saw that happened in one room where the only thing keeping you watching is the dialog and nothing else. For me, that is the best kind of movie. No action, no spooky scenes, nothing, just talking...

The other one is 12 Angry Men, where 12 jurors talk in a room about a mans innocence or guilt. These are movies are the ones that make you think in the end. I really recommend both.

Oooh! Oooh! I forgot about The Bridges Of Madison County! It's a chick flick, but I still liked it.

That should be Fistfull of Quarters shouldn't it? I liked that, I even bought it on iTunes so I could watch it again.

Fistful of Dollars was an old spaghetti western with Clint Eastwood, not too bad for its day.

Clerks 2 is also nice...like Clerks 1, with some added hotness ;-).

Just finished watching The Man From Earth, it was pretty "meh" until the fairly interesting ending. I wonder what the production budget was?

"White Chicks" is also one of my favorite comedies, although I doubt anyone in here will like it, since it's quite politically incorrect for American standards. It's from the Wayans brothers. Unlike other Wayans attempts, this is watchable and very funny.

P.S:
I saw few first minutes of the Red Dawn. It isn't watchable without a 6 can of beer. I got an old friend whom I seldom see, but when we meet we typically laugh at some movie drinking beer. If he hasn't seen Red Dawn, we'll meet soon.

Silent paratroopers on a U.S. town without any sirens look like a good start of a good comedy.. Pilot's helmets on the paratroopers make it even more promising

With the exception of Point Break, all Patrick Swayze movies are bleh!

When into the Clint Eastwood films, I really recommend Dirty Harry and all subsequent films (though the last one was weak in my opinion).

And also another gem from Stanley Kubrick: Doctor Strangelove, or how I stopped worrying and started to love the bomb

Recently the film The Fall of the Roman Empire was suggested to me. It falls under the class of an epic film I guess, (188 minutes). I really enjoyed it, so it might be worth a look.

Oh and it has Alec Guinness in it, in a full cloak, see if you can watch it without screaming Obe-Wan at the TV.

Watched Clerks 2.. Weaker than first one, kinda of.. First one delivered some point of view regarding.. A layer of society, and in second I've barely seen any meaning. Also structure of the movies is too similar for it to be interesting for the second time..

Indeed weaker, but there is meaning to it. The characters argue at rant about things that seem meaningless initially, but there is a hidden meaning about life's course, success, failures, relationships, etc. It's about reaching middle age.

Plus, Rosario Dawson is hot!

She doesn't qualify my waist requirements, but other than that she is.
Regarding the psychology.. Well, yeah.. Many of the actions the characters make, are actions with which I do not agree as the right thing to do, are still actions I very well understand and see the motives behind them- which is nice, no doubt.. Fairly rarely it's that bold in a movie.
