It's like people are just getting dumber and dumber.

They do things like protest art for being "racist." They protest great movies, and even fairy tales.

History is being censored and removed.

We're entering a new age of puritanism.

Meanwhile, people willingly give away their privacy. They don't care that the government spies on them. They buy televisions with always on microphones that send everything you say back to their data centers.

People don't mind having advertising in everything they do... just so they can save a couple of bucks for software that should have been free anyway.

The Reddit fiasco has exploded and every single media outlet vets the same lies and bias... that it's about nothing more that sexist boys trying to keep out anyone with a vagina. The bullies call their victims the bullies and everyone listens.

Everyone talks about "rape culture" as if it exists but nobody bothers to consider why there is no "murder culture."

No one cares about the truth anymore. No one. :(

I do none of those things. My TV is an old CRT TV I got for free. No computers in it, no microphone, not even widescreen. I have also never owned a cell phone in my life, I don't believe guns kill people, people do that, I don't think flags are racist, people are etc.. :)

Oh, up here in Canada, we had murders yesterday in Toronto with an illegal firearm, and multiple murders in Montreal, same comment, illegal firearms. Gun control sure works up here eh? We also have people protesting a new solar farm to generate electricity cleanly, we have people who constantly protest the wind generators... it's like everyone took a stupid pill. (Oh, and the firearm used wasn't stolen from a legal owner because it was the type not allowed in Canada, period)

It just feels so overwhelming now. I used to be able to speak my mind and people would disagree but would still respect my facts and my logic.

... but now... it feels like people are so closed. They don't want to be surprised. They don't want to change and grow. Whatever they were taught in highschool and college... that is their new religion and not to be mocked.

I've watched my own little brother go from the someone who truly understood the depth and heart that goes into my actions... turned into someone who talks of me being privileged because of the color of my skin yet fails to take into account that I'm completely physically disabled.

The people who used to bully me in school are now the ones calling me a bully for merely asking questions.

When I grew up we rebelled against authority because we wanted the truth... now everyone just wants more... more authorities to help take the bad thoughts away at whatever the cost.

I don't encounter any of this kind of nonsense anywhere except the Internet, and even then, it's only when I go looking for it.

If you're truly encountering this stuff in your day-to-day life, then you could try watching someone like Sargon of Akkad for some comfort. He and his followers are a reminder that most of the world is, in fact, united against all that.

Outrage culture and political correctness. Politics, games, movies, music, art, etc. are their targets and wanting to change everything to stroke their sensitive egos. Reddit is just another instance of the media blindly telling the same biased lies to sell a narrative. The confederate flag has, in essence been banned (limited places to buy it from now) because of people not remembering their history.

Sargon of Akkad is an interesting individual, but you have to be careful or you end up drawn into the GamerGate controversy that has been going on for a year now.

Times have changed, we live in a time where if you criticize a woman, it is harassment. Feminist groups are posting videos declaring watching your parents fight (domestic abuse) is now somehow rape. Women calling for censorship in games while indie developers passing it off as just "critiques" and nothing more.

The world has fallen apart and we find ourselves in a new time where the games industry is under attack yet again. The attack this time is, yet again declaring that games make gamers violent, but now a woman is claiming games apparently cause gamers to be sexist.

The bad part is, I never had any faith in humanity so this doesn't surprise me at all. I'm just waiting for the feminist groups to start calling for the US Flag removed claiming it represents the patriarchy and oppression. Could be waiting for Liberals to call for the US Flag to be removed claiming it is a symbol of war and oppression.

Seems we are heading toward a rather dark time in our history again, but I wonder how it will play out in the end.

The most of that insanity is in the poor countries. Look at India. They have lowered the prices for cotton, so that 25.000 cotton farmers made suicide in the last years. There are areas you can see people hanging in the trees frequently.

Now we are awaiting the big financial collapse. The governements have printed 400 times more money than real values existing. Better put a few gold bars under your pillow. 8-)

Seems we are heading toward a rather dark time in our history again, but I wonder how it will play out in the end.

Here's what I predict:
When uncontrolled capitalism farts its (seemingly) last fart (it will never die for real because people are stupid (or really smart and in-human depending on judgement and point of view)), the poor will revolt.

It will be a puny revolt though because they will be full of fear and most will already be dead anyway. Their spirit and not unlikely their physical shells too, killed by a ridiculous system which values fictional numbers(money) higher than human needs, in an age where human workforce is less and less needed to produce anything essential and those who are still needed look disgruntled at all the "freeloaders"(the irrational hatred against unemployed people feels pretty strong).

The remaining few who are willing and even capable of starting anything like a revolt will be severely under-equipped and thus be promptly executed by the private armies of the Megacorps or even by "regular" armies as countries have no sovereignty anymore and are fully controlled by the Megacorps as well.

They're not taking prisoners for slaves because they don't need 90% or an even higher percentage of the population anymore to produce the goods needed for their lives. Robots, machines, computers have taken over the production and those who own and control them will be unwilling to share with the rest of the world and keep demanding that everyone goes to work 9 to 5 in some meaningless system subsidized bullshit job... "to do their part... carry their weight... contribute" (contribution my ass... like slicing murdered animals on a conveyor belt for a few bucks an hour contributes shit to the development of mankind).

What the world needs, what the people need, is a global unconditional base income for everyone. Anything short of that is anti-social considering the radical changes which happened through the continuous technical progress. But then again, I believe that on a global scale, people ARE anti social, so this development is apparently WANTED by the majority of people. At the very least, tolerated and/or ignored.

When someone is born today. That someone should not owe anyone else shit. He/she should (if the concept of ownership should at all be kept alive) OWN an equal share of EVERYTHING which exists. It should be a birthright in a modern artificial world to get granted free food and shelter for life. It should not be everyone's damn duty anymore to sell their labor until death takes 'em away. Those times should be over by now.

The struggle for survival as fought by our ancestors has essentially been abolished (at least in theory, in practice, the financial imbalance and the lack of insight or mere unwillingness/ignorance of those in control prevents it from being practiced). The struggle for survival that we see today with the unemployed in first world countries is an artificially upheld struggle which is not really necessary, because their labor is not needed anyway.

In summary: mankind is fucked but some will always survive no matter what, the "poor" are expendable and those who could in theory do something about it don't want to change anything because they like their power and those who could also in theory change something about it also still don't because they are controlled by fear (and that fear is exactly as it is intended by those who control everything)

Oh yeah, end of rant. :P

A personal note: I'll soon have to succumb to capitalism and find a way to generate income as the system forces a mandatory contract upon me which I could not pay otherwise (and which on top of that is completely useless to me as I don't trust doctors/psychologists/etc. so will never even use any of the services that stupid so called "health" insurance provides... on the contrary that shit just makes me more miserable and furious... need to pick up Yoga and meditation again).

In case it is not obvious: My opinion is that forced labor totally sucks and that no one really needs to be forced to work and the system would still function (and people would be happier and less stressed out and less cut-throat competitive) and everyone would still not go hungry or be homeless.

And if you're asking yourself what any of this has to do with the OP... well DERP, it's the internet for fuck's sake. People (myself including) use it to vent the crap out of their minds. If you want to be happy, ignore peoples online rants, including this one and search for answers inside your self. :)

Everyone needs to find their own truth(s) and yes, you can have multiple truths, even ones which seem to contradict each other. 8-)

Socialism is destroying our countries and here we have someone blaming capitalism which made our countries strong in the first place. Lots of ignorance and brain washing happening with the youth it seems.

What we need is a history test you need to score 90% on in order to vote. That would probably improve things.

So... what are you going to do about it?

I have a tablet with GPS always on and my home Internet connection even has my name and address associated with the account. "Big Surveillance" can see all my code, all my dick pics, all my emails, and all the details of my (rather promiscuous) sex life though my texts.

I've grown a little apathetic towards government, advertising, hollywood, and big corporations in general. I didn't give up on humanity though. I gave up on this society structure. Capitalism only works for the rich. It was nice when it started out, but now that the top tier have a stranglehold on the system it doesn't even make any sense and I'm waiting for it to collapse. I can only hope it is within my lifetime so I don't need to see my grandchildren have to deal with the same broken system.

Having said that, I've joined local communities and built my own societal structure. So it's not really that big of a deal what everyone else is clinging on to, because I've got it good anyway.

Don't worry, capitalism is collapsing, socialism is taking over, and THAT is what is causing all the problems. Expect them to get worse.

When people are punished for working hard by having their money taken away and given to someone who is rewarded for not working. The person not working has no incentive to work, and the person who does work has no incentive to improve or even keep working.

Socialism is self defeating. It always has been. Under socialism small businesses generally fail first as they cannot handle the increased tax burden, and when they fail, social programs take a bigger hit and the tax burden increases. It's a vicious cycle that ends in self destruction and poverty.

You have no idea what you're talking about :'(

Most "work" these days is completely unimportant and even detrimental. Sometimes it's difficult to find work and you find yourself "working" by removing clothing as drunk men watch.

I'm lucky in that I have a great job that's rewarding, but it wasn't always that way. I use to work in a call center. Those things shouldn't even be legal.

Humans shouldn't be forced to work for your fiction.

1. Socialism is not taking over. Capitalism in its current form is failing.

2. This is not a socialism vs. capitalism issue. Seriously... as if socialism is the only alternative anyone could ever think of.

3. This is about uncontrolled neo liberal capitalism, which, as Derezo pointed out again, only works for the rich. And also, I want to add, it only works because it is kept alive by force and by instilling fear.

By separating the people. By telling the working people that all the unemployed are lazy freeloaders who leech off of their money and if they should dare to give up their meaningless jobs (in which they are being bullied and bossed around for next to nothing for the privilege of making the megacorp shareholders rich) they'll likewise be hated in the same way and branded freeloaders, leeches, unworthy of living, socialist lunatics or brainwashed youth whatever.

4. There are not enough meaningful jobs for everyone. That's the reality the system will have to deal with in a much better way than what is done now.

And there will be less and less human labor needed to do the work required to satisfy the needs of the people. It is anti social to just leave the un-needed people to themselves or demand them to work bullshit jobs which serve no real purpose other than to keep those happy who otherwise feel "punished" if others get free food while they have work "hard".

It has nothing at all do with following either a capitalist or socialist ideology. Neither works in their original concept and capitalism is way past its time and needs to be quite radically adjusted to work for everyone again.

Global unconditional base income would be a step in the very right direction but we won't live to see it. The barriers which prevent that much needed change exist in peoples minds but not in the reality of what is possible with the technology and knowhow mankind has accumulated so far. The change won't come because people do not grant their neighbor free food while they "have to" ... "work hard".

5. It is not about punishing people who want to work and make money.

It is about NOT punishing people who are not needed, who don't get the chance to make themselves needed, and even about not punishing those who don't want to sell their lifetime away for fictional values.

It's also about giving people, everyone workers and non-workers alike, the freedom to really think and choose what they want to contribute to and what they want to work on, instead of forcing them into meaningless and unneeded labor which does nothing for mankind and only serves to produce shitty goods or "services" which no one needs and just makes people feel miserable (and also which only exists because of that hidden forced labor as in a truly free system (free as in freedom to choose what you want to contribute to without having to worry about existential needs) no one would do those jobs unless they were paying amenable and unless they provided some real meaningful value to the community (currently the wages in those bullshit jobs are government subsidized so companies providing all those "great" jobs would not even exist then... because they are not needed!)).

The thought that everyone must have a job and "carry their weight" is simply outdated and does not hold up to reality anymore. There are not enough jobs and there will be even less jobs. It may have worked for some time but the world has changed and will continue to change and that grand system which supposedly made "our" countries strong is lagging behind a notch.

Think a bit before tagging the "brainwashed" label on views you don't agree with.

Or maybe you'd like a big war again... let the people shoot each other over nothing, so that there'll be enough jobs for everyone again... if anything, deadly force made "our" countries strong but certainly not uncontrolled capitalism. That only weakens our governments and makes them puppets of the financial elite.

So it seems we agree that subsidized bullshit jobs need to go away.

But you seem to still not want to feed those people who are not needed, as it makes you feel, you're being "punished" by that because you have to work for it when they don't and feeding the unneeded is Socialism to you (or do I read that wrong)...

...so you want to kill them or just let them starve (which would be the same)?

Well, if you don't want to explain what you're even trying to say, fine. Then I will have to disagree with whatever you are trying to say as whatever it is appears to be a complete mystery and hidden behind attempts at throwing meaningless insults and trying to pose as a wise man.

Well, you can't seem to carry on a civilized discussion without liberal amounts of swearing. I merely mentioned that socialism is destructive and the next thing you know I am killing and starving helpless people. Wow... that's quite the leap of logic.

Anyhow, I can see you are not someone that can discuss anything without getting angry and cussing out those that oppose your opinion, so I'll end this here. Believe what you wish. :)
