Oh, even more lovely photos. I especially like those by miran and HardTranceFan. By the way, where exactly you were on Krk? Ron: the pictures were taken in the fortress Terezin. Which lies cca. 20km north of Prague. [My website][CppReference][Pixelate][Allegators worldwide][Who's online] |

Yeah, it's where we send any foreign visitors we know Miran said: How do you make your panoramas (gear, software, techniques)? Yours look so much better than mine. Except for the Uluru one, that one is not so good... My camera (an older Canon Digital Ixus 300) has the option to take side by side (overlapping) pictures, which are then 'stitched' together with some software that came with it. As you noticed with the Uluru shot, sometimes the time between light levels between two shots is significant enough for one of the shots to be darker than the previous one - the camera doesn't remember the light levels of the first shot. There is a manual way around it, but at the time I didn't understand why it was happening. My approaching storm shot below is another example where this happened. Here are two more I have: London skyline taken from Primrose Hill Beachcomber Island in Fiji, as a storm rolled in -- |

Sorry, I got the wrong island @GullRaDriel: Nice panoramic. Is it from your place? And, I like the photos in your first shot. I had a go a few years back with my SLR getting that quality photos, but these days most of my photos are limited to pointing and clicking with a 2.1 mega pixel digital -- |

@HardTranceFan: It is from a friend of my mom place. Near "La Londe Les Maures", south France. My cam is a Canon Ixus 40, not too far from what you have. ( Ah, yeah, 4 mega pixel ) Thanks for the comment ! ( I already have praised you before ;-) ) EDIT: Code Harris, I browse all your deviant art picture, and my choice is Reflection at the Beach ! Canon Ixus 40: I take a look at Wikipedia, and they have a K1000 description. I just post it for informational purpose ;-) "Code is like shit - it only smells if it is not yours" |

Cody Harris: Nice pics, it'd be awesome if they were HDR. Just learned today how to do HDR in 3ds Max, so from now on my renders will be HDRified. --- |

http://stuckincustoms.com/?p=548 You can do it solely in Photoshop, as well, but you don't get as fine of a control and the result is just not as good. I plan on buying Photomatix soon. --- |

HDR = high dynamic range When you take a picture there is only so much contrast between what ends up being 0xFF FF FF and 00 00 00. Take a night picture. You'll notice that all lights go white and everything else goes pitch black. HDR basically amounts to a greater range or contrast. Currently they use a technique by taking several exposures and blending them. Ideally we'll have chips that can sense the light with a greater range instead. edit: and we'll need the monitors to go along with it. Also would be nice to get greater contrast without losing precision, so we should move to more bits. ------------- |

Mine is a Canon Powershot A80, also 4 megapixels. I hope I'll be able to buy an EOS 400D with a couple of decent lenses soon. -- |

Quote: Ideally we'll have chips that can sense the light with a greater range instead. I don't know much about photography hardware, but my astronomer friend said that some company developed per-pixel shutters, so each pixel gets its own exposure appropriate for the light level. He was talking about its use in space photography, so the really super-bright stuff doesn't blot out the detail, but I wonder if this tech would essentially amount to HDR when applied to less celestial projects? --- |

My digital camera is a Canon Powershot A85. The powershot A series is a very nice line of camera, and I'm impressed with how well they take pictures. --------------------------------- |

I don't know, seems people are overdoing the HDR images and just end up making things look unrealistic. Anybody disagree? -- Ryan Patterson - <http://cgamesplay.com/> |

Nope. I think HDR is cool and nice, but too much HDR make the thing look like a cartoon / cinema / not real thing. "Code is like shit - it only smells if it is not yours" |

Those are both very nice HDRIs! Mine is pathetic, but I'm still getting used to photography in itself. And it doesn't help that all of my previous Photoshop experience has been with texturing. My mom is a photography buff, and when I showed her HDR she was very excited to try it out. (she's also much better at Photoshop than I am when it comes to photography stuff) --- |

Thanks Kibiz0r, but there is still a lot of space for improvement. Regarding the panoramic discussion, there is a more simple way to make panoramic image: 1. Make a shot with a wide angle lens. 2. Cut out top and bottom. -- |

Yes, but can you make a panorama that's 16000 pixels wide this way? No, you can't. -- |
