WoW imo has the best movement in any MMO out today. I've played RYL, GW, Super hear/villian one, EQ2, and just tried DAoC and OMG the movement on there is probably the worst I've seen yet. The control and movement of WoW just seems to work more natural than the others. I can't get past that. If my character looks like a moron moving around on the screen, I can get into the game. Plus I love the cartoon look and feel. Most MMO's try to give it a more real look and just fail. The characters in GW look horrible to me. Another thing I think makes the difference is player collision. I think it makes games choppy and look bad. So really WoW's engine has everything I want in an MMO, but the way they made the gameplay wasn't the best. About the video: Why did you spend all that time DEing to just delete the toon? Should have given all those shards to a low level to make his day ======================================================== |

The characters are stored in the database for a long time even after you delete them. When you disenchant items, however, the reference to you having that item is only stored for 2 weeks before they are permanently gone. So by doing this, I'm ensuring that I won't be able to have a fallback later on. --------------------------------------------- |

WoW is a great MMORPG. The problem... is that MMORPG's suck. Once you realize that you're paying money on a monthly basis so you can do mundane repetitive tasks, it loses the charm it once had. You could say it's social, but it's not worth paying $20-30 a month for a pretty instant messenger either. If you want avatars with expressions... Windows 98 came with a cartoon chat... At least with FPS games, your skill (which you build on a real level) allows you to do more / die less. And they have no monthly charge, either. That's why I stopped. I don't play FPS games online these days either though. -----sig: |

The money really wasn't the issue for me. $15/mo is nothing. The issue was I like PvP, which is why I like online FPS games, and WoW just didn't have what I was looking for in PvP. No MMO at this time has ALL the elements I want together. WoW was the closest as so that is why I played it, but after 2 years it just wasn't going in the direction I was hoping it would go, so that's why I canceled it. ======================================================== |

That, my ghastly friend... is my private project. It's not WoW at all. It just... hijacks its things. EDIT: Improvement! http://olympus.olf.sgsnet.se:9660/warfist-portal2.png -- |

So it's another game using the Art assets? Or is it a hack/patch program for WoW? |

It sorta got out of hand and grew from the Chaos game, yeah... if you're going to keep asking questions though, be prepared to relay them to the rest of the thread via PM or something. I'm going to run out of posts. -- |

Wait... level 70? I thought level 60 was the maximun. Do they charge extra for those 10 levels? -- |

Yes, it's called the expansion. You can only level from 60 to 70 with the expansion. ======================================================== |

Hmm... interesting, so they are beginning to get money also for leveling up. I wonder if that is because the amount of suscriptions is slowing down, or to get back interest from players who had left because of no more goals. -- |

Mabunagi (spelling?) is a good MMO. You don't even need to engage in combat. You could cook, farm, mine, write music, explore, blacksmith, sew, you gradually grow older, and it has an awesome art style. |

One of the kids from my church just told me he paid $189 for a level 60. That's the worst investment of money I think I've ever seen. $189 for an arrangement of bytes in a game. Good golly miss molly and a half... -----sig: |

Beyond that, he basically paid to have someone else do all the fun things for him. I mean, seriously? Isn't the whole idea of a game to play it and have fun doing so? Why would you pay extra cash to circumvent that? It boggles the mind. -- |

Because it's not fun to be raped for 300 hours of gameplay by someone 10 levels higher? I'm not saying I'd do it or that it's not stupid. But the whole foundation of "fun" is flawed in WoW. But like I said, for me, I find the idea of performing unrewarding repetitive tasks for the possibility of fun in the future, depressing. I've said it quite a few times though, so I'll try my best to refrain from doing it again. I think my view on MMORPGs and most RPGs should be fairly obvious by now. I'd just do something I feel is more productive (like plan, design, or build my Dune Buggy). -----sig: |
