I have FourPointSurround FPS 1600 speakers from Cambride Soundworks (the precious link is to the same speakers but released by Creative) connected to my PC and I'm using the on-board sound card which is a Realtek AC'97. The problem I experience is that the two rear speakers and the sub-woofer make no sound at all. I have checked that they are properly connected and messed around with the settings a lot. I'm using Windows XP Professional with all the latest patches. These speakers worked fine on my old computer which had a Creative Soundblaster Live sound card. Any ideas? |

I love those speakers, I have the FPS 2500 or 2200 speakers, they are absolutely the best I've ever owned. Anyway I'm not sure about the AC'97 setup but the easiest is to check the sound module of the control panel, make sure you have your speakers set up as 5.1 and not desktop 2 speaker. Also make sure they aren't muted. If I'm not mistaken make sure your onboard has 7.1 output enabled. How are you connecting the speakers? SPDIF or mini-din? ___________________________________ |
