Yep. Would be deemed inhabitable here, too, and the people living there would be relocated by the authorities. Seriously, man, move out of there while you still have your health. You don't deserve my sig. |

Someone was smoking out of the window in the room below me. I smelt it at night, and again in the morning. I looked out, saw the cigarette, and asked him to stop because I could smell it. He looked out, mumbled something, and stopped. He was covered in tattoos. The problem hasn't recurred, but he might only have been a visitor. This is a non-smoking building. I'm on the fifth floor (0-based in England), so I'm only ever aware of smokers outside the building occasionally when I leave and come back. All I can suggest is to make sure you go for a non-smoking building when you choose a flat. Personally, I hate it when people smoke. There are no two ways about it: it's a very antisocial thing to do. If I were to leave the house naked, I'd probably get arrested. But at least you could look away if you passed me. You can't 'look away' from a cigarette. If you're going to smoke, the very least you can do is make sure you aren't affecting anyone around you. If your country/situation is leaving you with no options as to where you can smoke, then damn well give up the habit. I can understand when people get a craving on entering a smoky pub or whatever, but if you're never around another smoker, give up for god's sake. -- |
