Why would you want one? Anyway do you mean the window decorations or the whole way it works? I remember that you could just change the WM in win98 to somthing other then explorer... could make windows very fun |

Well... I use StyleBuilder with StyleXP to create new skins for Windows XP. However, changing all those tiny bitmaps takes forever... Another problem is that because of the way windows is, you can't get that wonderful system menu back... But I really like the way Windows 3.1 look so I want to get as close as possible (without installing v 3.1 of course;)) (my pic is a part of the swedish version of the program manager) "What are we going to do tonight, Bill?" |

Yeah! I hate the x buttom beside the Maximize/Minimize ones. I've closed millions of Windows when I wanted to maximize them, and maximize zilions when I wanted to close:P OS/2 Presentation Manager hasn't the x button but adds a 'hide' one. [edit] and also minimizes to an icon, and the programs can create dinamic icons like in W3.1!!!:D[/edit] If you find any W3.1 or OS/2 theme for WXP, let us know. Pleeeeeeeese;D ----------------- |

Hehe... I once changed it to use progman instead of Explorer. I basically ended up with Windows 3.1. It was actually a lot more stable than using Explorer One `fun' thing I once considered was to change it to shell=COMMAND.COM |

Niunio: doubleclicking on the titlebar of the window minimises/maximises it. No need to get near the dreaded x-button. A lot faster too :-) |

the program used under win98 to switch back to something that look like win3.1 was called progman.exe, don't know if it's still in WinXP, but there was a lot of stuff M$ let in Win98 from Win3.1 Win3.1 is missing me, there should be a window manager for linux and maybe one for windows too, with this theme. Maybe LiteStep, (it would be cool to have it under linux, I love litestep)

Yes, progman.exe exists in windows xp, and it has support for different users too! Dammit, I give up. My harddisk is making strange sounds louder and louder every day .. I think the end is near .... (need to backup 20gb - fast) "What are we going to do tonight, Bill?" |
