Buenas tardes amigos I realize the forums have been dead -- and with the quick lock it's hard to get in a reply, otherwise I'd have replied to Arvidsson's thread! I still check in every now and then, also longing for the days of my youth and discovering Allegro & DJGPP. Probably wouldn't be where I am without having learned so much from these forums and allegro back in the day. I'm curious what everyone is doing with the LLM explosion these days. I started using Claude Sonnet 3.7 last August, and after making a crossword puzzle using an ollama LLM to generate hints from a dictionary and categorizing the words, then having it create a 3D category globe where the categories were scaled using a logarithmic proportion to their word count, there was no going back and I've hardly written any manual code since that moment. My job switched to doing almost entirely PR reviews and testing. Last December I started building games and made the MMORPG I was always trying to build with Allegro inside about a month. Full asset generation pipeline with AI, music, sounds, but the isometric tiles never came out quite right. A month or so ago I used claude to update my speedhack entries so they would compile again, and it had to rewrite some dependencies that are no longer available online (it even tried to use the wayback machine before it decided to do that, which is how I got the speedhack binaries to begin with since the site was offline). Besides that I've been trying to build apps and make it rich like everyone else, but still keep my day job as a software engineer. I imagine some people here absolutely hate the LLM revolution, but I've been loving it for the most part. Hope everyone is well! I've been spending a lot of time in Colombia over the past several years which is where I am now... entonces, hasta luego! "He who controls the stuffing controls the Universe" |
