Depot Games: Seppl's Sprite Editor

Current Version: 1.1

Project Status: Completed

Highest Popularity: #1 during December 2005

Links: Web Site

Category: Utilities

Developers: Seppl

Ports: Windows

Source Code: Available

Author's Description: It's a tool for creating animated sprites out of several bitmaps, so if you change a bitmap used by a sprite, every frame of the sprite of will change, too.
Useful for making different sprites of persons with the same movement.
For Example:
You made a sprite of a running guy with short hair and a green shirt.
Now you want to create another guy with long red hair and a blue shirt with the same movement.
You don't have to draw the whole animation again,
you only have to change the bitmap containing the head and the bitmap containing the shirt and load the first guy. Result: a different animation with the same movement.

Overall Rating: 8.0
  • 8great use of masking for the GUI. The editor is really simple to use, though I couldn't find out how to play the animation. Anyway, cool app. Look forward to seeing more
  • 8v1.1: A simple but very usable sprite animator. Just draw individual body parts of your guy, then use this program to arange them to form a body. Then move them around to create different poses. Would be a lot easier to use if it had a bone/joint system though...
