Yeah, the Nexus 4. There's an updated nexus 4 coming out soon. I imagine it may have more flash, but it seems the major change so far is a 1080p screen. -- |

Slow can still have good games on it. Rockstar games has hinted at GTA3 being released on it, Final Fantasy III is set to be released on it, and Shadowrun Online is going to be released. Also everyone keeps talking about speed, but if you want speed then get a PS4 or Xbox One. Ouya isn't being released as a next gen console, it is being released as the first ever console for Indie developers. Look at the indie market, few of the games are Commercial grade 3D games, but rather simple 2D or isometric graphics and the mechanics don't really pull on the CPU or GPU that much. This is why I was interested in it, but as it gets closer to launch I just can't justify $99 to get it and not knowing if I would ever actually develop anything on it.

It does limit its future potential. Newer games that come out, that aren't just old re-releases will have issues. -- |

Schyfis said: Not sure if trolling, or just stupid. Nope; just paying attention. Every developer is thinking "I can port my Android games to OUYA", not "I can develop an awesome game that will leverage the controller + TV + living room dynamic." The truth is that the platform is going to be a dumping ground for ports for quick cash. --> |

Thomas Fjellstrom said: Newer games that come out, that aren't just old re-releases will have issues. I disagree as, again, it is made for indie developers and I can't think of any indie games in the past few years that have pushed any hardware, especially hard enough to make Ouya hardware an issue. I know a lot of game houses have jumped on board with Ouya, but I don't see any indies without backing making anything that will cause any problems you are thinking of. I mean, the the largest games that have been out the past few years, indie wise, were Minecraft, Terraria, and Torchlight (none of which push hardware that hard).

Ouya, still more games than on a Mac. Personally, I'm more excited about the Shield. -- |

I think the Shield is also one of those awkward devices. It's basically a tablet with a controller permanently attached for gaming. I have yet to see any tablet style games that are even close to console quality. With PC connectivity I can do the same today with my galaxy tablet, a PS3 controller, and Splashtop software. I'm also not that enthused about the next gen consoles either. Wii-U is flopping badly and the PS4/Xbox-one is still running sub-par hardware that PC hardware has already surpassed. Sadly again PC games have also hit a wall with very little innovation lately either. Of course I am also not a gamer anymore, I have a family and hardly any time for that so most of my gaming has been casual strategy games on my tablet that require zero thought and are free to play. I believe the PS4 will pull ahead this console generation with Sony's game publisher support like Square Enix and the likes. ___________________________________ |

[edit]then again, I just saw barley break and the fisting game..... If the allegro android port got finished and polished to a shiny turd somebody could make some money with a crap game in the early days. but nobody has told me why all my smilies have the bottom row (and right column I've just noticed) of 1 pixel chopped off (i.e. offset right and down +1) Neil. Sirocco said: until you realize that it's ing retarded to plop down in front of the TV to play games that were meant to be experienced 3-5 minutes at a time I just read a article about developer comments on the OUYA, and they said one of the main advantage to develop on OUYA is to make bigger and more consistant games. The second advantage is that they do not have hundreds of different hardware to support. That does not need that there are not going to be any port at all. Yes they said that the OUYA would be rapidly overcome by new cell phone, but on the other hand, technology evolves so fast that you cannot go to the bathroom without getting outdated. Still, they made changes from developpers suggestions, they still have time to make some changes to the final product if it simply means replacing processors. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As for the XBOX ONE, yes the name sucks. (one XBOX to rule them all!) But besides being more powerful, the only thing they added is more goodies around it. The only feature that I found very interesting but that they barely talked about is the possibility to link tablets with the XBOX. That is something board gamers always wanted to be able to hide for example a hand of card from the others. But I am not sure if people intend to use it for this purpose. I Hope OUYA could, eventually, connect with tablets. Besides being fat and ugly the worst part is all the marketing and licensing issues. I think they are somehow spreading rumors to test the terrain and see how people react to make proper adjustments. The one game per player is horrible since a 3 kid family will have to buy 3 copies of the same game for everybody to play. I will not be able to play my girlfriend's game and vice versa. It they charged you like and extra 5$-10$ for an additional player, that would be far less worst, but still unacceptable. Also, you could not use a common profile because they use the kinect to detect your face. Maybe you could use a mask when you login. But now they'll try to make scans each 10 min while you play. So you'll have to play with your mask all the time. Second bad thing, in Canada you must use a specific TV provider to use it with the XBOX. But that provider is not available in the province I live. So impossible to use it. (I still do not watch TV, so it does not bother me a lot) Being forced to connect to the internet once a day is just horrible. They still think everybody has an internet access with unlimited bandwidth. It also reminds me the story of a wanted guy hidden in a safehouse that decides to play video game, but his console was connected on the net, so they could trace the guy. So it get to the point that he could not even enjoy playing video games. I don't know all the details, be it seems now that everything will be on the cloud. So you cannot actually own your save games. I hate cloud computing for many reasons I won't list. It's not a bad concept, it's just that I don't like the idea of applying it to everything. If feel like I am not owning my data and everybody could see it. Yes there are access restriction, but data that does not exist is much more secure than data with restricted access. I was skeptical before even seeing the specs, now me and my girlfriend are not yet interested to buy the XBOX until we see it in action. For my part, I have my eyes on the OUYA. Personnaly, I am more interested in gameplay than nice graphics. I always say that I don't look at my car's reflection when driving on the road at 200 miles per hour, so what does it matter it my car shines ... accurately. Enjoy! and have fun |

According to some sources, supporting Ouya could become almost as bad as the rest on Android:

I clear my cache for no man I tried IE as requested and the smilies worked, but I poked my eyes out before I could close it down Seems it's just smilies, not other ones. I think I can live with that as I don't suffer smilie OCD. {"name":"607617","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/2\/a22b9bf72b44009315df58af9c25e253.jpg","w":546,"h":515,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/2\/a22b9bf72b44009315df58af9c25e253"} Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002.
