I meant you'll get whomped by the night crawlers in minecraft if you're dividing your attention. They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas. |

I know you don't really need it with your new card, but if you get yourself the Optifine mod for Minecraft you'll probably smooth out those strange FPS hiccups from looking in specific directions. I on the other hand can't live without Optifine or my framerate is too erratic to be playable, as I already mentioned earlier. ...it also has much better vSync support, which can help make everything even smoother. --- Kris Asick (Gemini) |

Optifine comes in three different flavours: Standard, Smooth and Multi-Core, though nowadays they combine all three into a single package and you can choose which mode to put it into from the in-game options. (Though it's best not to change this setting if you have a map loaded, only from the title screen.) On my system, the Smooth mode works best. The Standard mode stutters a bit and the Multi-Core mode glitches like crazy. The best mode to use depends on a lot of factors, though I think the Smooth mode is universally the most effective. --- Kris Asick (Gemini) |

All I know, is that on my laptop, character, mob, and some item/block textures massively glitch out. Sometimes they are just outright gone (or part of them is, like the top of a chest) or the texture looks like its been replaced by part of a much larger portion of the texture atlas, so it kind of looks like a bunch of item/block textures are squished together onto a single surface. {"name":"606895","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/3\/9\/390d8540a120fff530a30d2432668678.png","w":854,"h":480,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/3\/9\/390d8540a120fff530a30d2432668678"} -- |

Oh... looks like a mod conflict. Optifine is unfortunately not compatible with all of them. Or... or or or... Optifine has special texturing modes, some of which I think may be enabled by default (not sure) which adjust the way certain textures are drawn to make them more dynamic, an example of which: Making glass blend in with itself to make solid glass sheets instead of panels. Those enhancements could be the source of your woes in trying to use it if some of your mods are also trying to adjust the way textures work. --- Kris Asick (Gemini) |

In that case, the problem is probably... umm... hmm... ...OK, I'm out of ideas. --- Kris Asick (Gemini) |
