And the new version coming out will undoubtedly introduce all sorts of new bugs! Yaaaaay! LennyLen: I've bumped you back down to y=70. I'm also going to look at installing a plugin that will automatically teleport any player that gets above the nether ceiling. ----- |

Is there any client plugin which let's me remap the mouse bindings? Using the mouse with the left hand, I'd prefer to dig with the right button or even better with a keyboard key - but google failed me. Also a plugin which makes running on/off instead of having to keep a key pressed and same for crouching would be nice - I had one of those when I played last but it doesn't work with 1.7/1.8 anymore. -- |

I don't think there's a plugin, but search Google for "minecraft autohotkey". You might be able to swap the left and right mouse buttons with that. ----- |

When will the server be updated to 1.8? I usually go to an Internet cafe and play for a bit on my break (which will be in about 3-4 hours), but since it's in the browser, it will be running a later version than the server.

The server has just been updated. Bukkit hasn't been updated for 1.8 yet, though, so the server will be running without mods for a bit. Edit: Thanks for the void fog, Notch! I really like how it made my slime pit totally unusable! ----- |

The update seems to have moved things around in the Nether as well. When I restarted, I was at the same coordinates as when I'd left, but in a completely different location. Right now, I'm where the portal back to town should be, but there's no sign of it or any of the structures that used to be around it. If you could send me back to town, that would be great. I'm about to start starving.

Heh. Maybe this is a Bukkit vs regular Minecraft thing, but the nether was getting loaded from a different folder. Meaning you were trapped in a freshly-generated nether, with no portals back. That's fixed now, and I've moved you to the portal. As it was, you were pretty much right next to where it should have been anyway. ----- |

I don't know if this is a 1.8 induced bug, or an incompatibility between 1.8 and the texture pack I was using, but now, all unopened chests are black, and all double chests, whether unopened or not are drawn 2-wide on the N-S axis, even if they;re really 2-wide on the E-W axis.

Chests are like that here too... guess just one of many new bugs -- |

The introduction of Endermen has killed my mob-tower as well.

Chests in 1.8 are smaller than standard blocks now and they have animation on opening. Perhaps that's the cause? It would be cool if you could get and Enderman to pick you up and transport you somewhere Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. XBOX:chucklepie |

Add/remove a torch next to them and their lighting will go back to normal. -- |

But how can they find time to fix bugs when there's important stuff do to with the game like adding 3D snouts to pigs. When I get home I'm going to try cubelands. Any good? Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. XBOX:chucklepie |

Wow cubelands looks much better. Probably less buggy -- and look at those shadows... |

Don't tell the minecraft fanbois, they will cry and threaten death on you for daring to mention a 'minecraft clone.' Meanwhile, minecraft itself is a clone. |

Apparently the only way to fix the "double chests drawn going the wrong direction" bug is to break and re-place the chest. In better news: there are now large ocean biomes, the fog at the bottom of the world disappears if it has natural light shining on it (so, once a few skylights are added, my slime pit will be usable again!), and slimes seem to spawn more often. ----- |

cubeland is closed for trials. I bought Total Miner this morning. It's quite good for just a few pounds. Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. XBOX:chucklepie |

I did some exploring today. Is anything documented on how minecraft actually works in the sense of the environment? I know it's all based on a seed but I'm interested in how they get the entire massive world generated so quick and in such a small set of data files, including all the caves, rivers, biomes, etc then of course all the changes people make to them. Or is the landscape really not generated until you get somewhere close to it? Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. XBOX:chucklepie |

AFAIK, only the chunks you're close to are generated, and they are 16x16x16.(If I'm not mistaken) " There are plenty of wonderful ideas in The Bible, but God isn't one of them." - Derezo |

Neil Walker said: Or is the landscape really not generated until you get somewhere close to it? Land isn't generated until you get close to it (within 300 blocks, I want to say... don't quote me on that, though). This is why your save files get bigger the more you explore. Generated land is saved (so you don't lose changes you make) once you've explored near it.

Ok, ta. But that must have changed in 1.8 to allow for the massive dungeons and rivers? btw, has anyone figured out a use for FOV? I can't stand anything other than normal. Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. XBOX:chucklepie |
