It was nice and fast after it was restarted back on Tuesday, then it gradually got slower and slower... I hear 1.6 is supposed to fix a lot of bugs, so hopefully a fix for whatever's causing this will be included. ----- |

I designed a pretty cool train station system on another server. The cart comes up and waits for about 10 seconds, after-which it goes. If someone gets in it goes right away. I would build it on the a.cc server but it just takes way too many resources and mining is just super boring. What is the chance allowing a subsidy from the powers that be for a good train system? |

If you can get Bamccaig to not whine and complain about it, I don't really mind someone cheating a little to get a decent train system setup. -- |

What's the world coming to when a person can't be expected to swing at dirt for several hours a day?

Is the server down right now? It's mc.baf.cc right? |

I've set up a server at mc.cgamesplay.com. This server doesn't have anything now (except more RAM than the poor VM that mc.baf.cc is on). Later on tonight, I'll add in territory and allow people to claim areas for themselves. This will include a modest amount of space in the central marketplace area, as well as a huge amount of space in the rural areas. In general, if you build something in the city area in the first few days while the server is nubile and volatile, don't get disappointed if a public building takes imminent domain. Later on I'll protect certain parts of the marketplace if you want to run a shop or just crash in the city. If you walk for a minute or two in any direction, though, take as much space as you like. Once the server gets started and there's some major landmarks and what not, I'll subsidize a public transit system. This means that I'll put rails and roadways in using MCEdit. Regarding item spawning: None. However, there will be subsidized depots for necessities. I'll provide unlimited quantities of certain items like stone tools, torches, ladders, signs, railways, and redstone. If you want diamond tools, you'll have to go mine for them. I'm undecided about providing unlimited iron tools, but I suspect I won't. OK, so log onto mc.cgamesplay.com, and go build stuff! I'll be on later on tonight, setting up the central marketplace. -- Ryan Patterson - <http://cgamesplay.com/> |

Geez, you guys are really dedicated by consistently playing a game that lags and kicks you off the server all the time. The lag is ridiculous, but this one at least has undeveloped areas. I'll give it a shot. -- |

Right, I've now got two accounts for minecraft in my house and friend who has one too, so I want to set up a simple windows server. A few questions: How does anyone here do it, is it easier to run one of the helpers like mcMyAdmin or just run the server from the command line? How do you run the server as either classic or survival mode? Ultimately I'd like to add some interactive NPC's and state based actions like in some of the adventure games such as survival island, etc. How do you do this? No lag on mc.cgamesplay.com here either, but is mc.baf.cc down for good or something? REVISION: I lied. I break blocks on mc.cgamesplay.com, blocks come back. Bring back BafWorld so I can finish my damn sphere! -- |

Damn it, I Want to play, but I'm supposed to be giving my hands a rest. Otherwise I should be working on other more important things -- |

Can we get a downloadable version of what's on BAF's server, if it is going to be phased out? ----- |

The spawn area is not protected or anything. This sort of glitch happens because the server is sending you chunks, but not listening to your actions. After some time the server snaps back to consciousness and all the blocks you destroyed will disappear and drop their drops. -- Ryan Patterson - <http://cgamesplay.com/> |

It doesn't always catch up though. Sometimes it will just not notice some blocks you broke while it was being brain dead. -- |
