ChristmasHack -10?

Will there be any? I think I won't have time to participate, but if there will be one, I promise to come up with some bonus thing. And I also promise to update at least one of my entries from the past.

I also will be too busy to participate. But you will see me in SpeedHack (I'll finish my entry this time)!

I haven't had much time these past two years, and this year will not be an exception... but that does not stop me from registering and finishing my entry! CH has become an integral part of my December and I'd be sad if it wasn't held :P

ChristmasHack 10 BC! ;D That should be a theme. ;D

On a more serious note, I probably won't make it this time.
I'm finishing a very small Allegro 5.0.0rc1 game ATM, though, so you can count that as my contribution for this year. :P Unoficially.

Can I write my entry in Python?

Previous year's rules:

Quote:

  • Portability to all the ChristmasHack platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X) is encouraged. If possible, choose portable libraries over ones available under one platform only.

  • Each entry is required to be open-source - this means that anyone with access to the same platform as you can, using only freely available tools and your source package, produce working binaries for his computer.

So, yes. I wrote mine in D last year, for example.

I was wondering about ChristmasHack, too. I hope we have an announcement soon.

I ain't sure if I'm entering this one or not. I won't do as much as the last one, that's for sure, I ended up exhausted the last time. :-X

It's funny because I was just thinking about this earlier today... Anyway, I can't promise I'll have time to finish something, but hey...I guess I could always register and join and see where it goes. Not like someone is gonna show up at your door if you don't finish. ::)

Depending on the date, I might be able to join (just yesterday I set up A5-RC1 at home).

Install Allegro 5 (and learn how to use it) been on my todo list for like half the year so far... so I won't be in it.

I havn't been around the community in a while, but I participated in 05 or 06 and made a playable submission that wasn't 100% terrible and had some entertainment value (I thought).

I'd be willing to participate again this year, though I'm afraid I may choose to use OpenGL and glut if that isn't against the rules (I failed to see anything). Look forward to more information.

I saw the PM before I saw the thread, so I'll just repeat my answer to Onewing here:

Quote:

Hi,

I'd very much like to continue running the event, but I'm afraid it's not going to be possible this year. I've got a new job that (while fulfilling) sucks a lot of my time, and requires me to travel a lot. In fact, I'm leaving to Austria this Sunday and won't be back until the 15th, or even later depending on how the project goes. Unfortunately the event requires some human attention to run smoothly, and I simply don't have the time.

Sorry to disappoint - it's certainly heartwarming that someone still remembers about ChristmasHack, even with the forum growing less busy and more quiet every year.

So I guess I'm not going to be able to run it this year, sorry folks.

Oh well, we could always do an unofficial forum-made event right? I'd be willing to lend my PM inbox and my txt management skills once again!

Though I have to revise my schedule a bit, I've got some finals for university and graduation ceremonies/parties this month. :-X

Well, we'll see how it goes.

People willing to participate in an unofficial ChristmasHack 2010 might choose a random set of rules/wishes from previous ChristmasHacks for their entries.
