GTA and GTA2 can already be gotten for free directly from Rockstar.

You people always have to complain and nitpick. :P

I, for one, believe this offer to be an excellent bargain.

It is, normally you'd get one game for that price :P

Nobody pays that much for one old game. Maybe when they were new they got that much, but you can probably find most of them in the bargin bin for $5-$10.

8 games there you have to pay for, maybe less. If you can find them for an average of $8 that's $64, which isn't bad.

GTA, GTA2, and Wild Metal (???) are all free. The rest are between $8 and $20 on Steam. Go ahead and try to find them in stores... I've been wanting to get GTA3 again for months. I've tried to find it and I couldn't. This is really a pretty sweet deal. In store I'd expect to pay $20-30 for each of the 7.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

I wonder if I'll prefer GTA:SA on PC or PlayStation... With that said, I could swear I've seen new things happening and heard new pedestrian comments while playing GTA:SA on my PlayStation 3...

  • Maybe it has enough power to load the media that the PlayStation 2 couldn't;

  • Maybe it's a bug that doesn't have an affect when running on the PlayStation 3;

  • Maybe I'm crazy...

It's been a while since I've played so it's also possible that I just forgot...

I wonder why nobody is releasing GTA: London 1969 for free? They've been giving away GTA and GTA 2 for at least a couple years now...

They don't even include it in this bundle...

It sounds like that was actually a mission pack (expansion pack) for the original GTA.

I know it's was an expansion pack :D I own it along with the original GTA (and GTA2).

I just don't understand why they give away GTA and not it's expansion packs.

La chanson des pirates said:

HISSONS NOS COULEURS

Le roi et ses pairs
Ont enfermé la reine,
A bord d'un bateau de plomb.
Nous naviguons, et par ses pouvoirs
Moi et mes frères vogueront.

Yo ho sur l'heure
Hissons nos couleurs.
Hissez ho, l'âme des pirates
Jamais ne mourra.
Yo ho quand sonne l'heure

Yo ho quand sonne l'heure
Hissons nos couleurs.
Hissez ho, l'âme des pirates
Jamais ne mourra.

You know how they end...

I played GTA3 on a PC and a PS2, and unless they changed the control scheme for GTA:SA PS3 from the GTA3 PS2 one, (which would essentially mean "replaced the controller with a mouse"), the PC version should be much better.
Then again, I've hated every FPS on any console I've tried*, it's just uncomfortable to aim without a mouse.
*-Which is only PS2 and XBOX. But presumably only the Wii features any significant difference in controller to be considered different for this purpose.

I wondered the same thing myself when I saw the list of games here.
Though I have a vague memory of it being a free download from some site (ie I was bored some years ago and found a free download for it, and played it for a while, but it was long enough ago to forget almost everything about*. I'm pretty sure it was a legal download though [like GTA2 is available for free])
*-Which doesn't say much, I have the memory capabilities of a ceramic bowl.

I'm pretty comfortable shooting with a PlayStation controller. I prefer with a mouse, but I can manage just fine with a PlayStation controller. For the record, GTA:SA was a PS2 game that I'm playing on my PS3. ;) GTA4 is coming out in a few months for PS3 and 360 (and probably eventually for PC).

I expect the shooting to be a lot easier on PC, but the driving and camera controls will probably be worse or at least less precise.

If you don't mind the horrible horrible torture that is "aiming with a playstation controller", then you'd probably like the PS version better, I guess. The driving and camera controls are a bit uncomfortable on a PC (though I got used to those very fast [unlike the horrible horrible torture that is "aiming with a playstation controller" {do you see a pattern? :P}]), since the camera is a bit unruly if you ever decide to move it while driving (which I rarely do), and the driving controls are a bit too sensitive until you get used to them. (in GTA:SA, of course. I can't predict what GTA4 will be like :P)

Maybe you should decide that "driving is better with a controller and shooting is better with a mouse, therefore I will use both simultaneously" :P

Ooh! How about getting one of those force-feedback driving wheels and pedals, that's smart use of your money :)

Console gamers get used to shooting with a controller. A mouse has it's advantages shooting, but a PlayStation controller has advantages driving (and operating a camera while driving) and is still very adequate when shooting.

Typically I use the camera to look ahead of me by shifting the camera above the car. It's extremely useful when you're going uphill and want to know what's head of you (stationary objects, traffic, etc.). I never put hydraulics on my cars because in GTA:SA the hydraulics take over the camera controls (which is the best control scheme possible, but you lose control of the cameras for the most part).

GTA isn't a first-person shooter and the combat isn't as fast paced as one. That said, UT is for n00bs. You wanna have an fps competition it's Counter-Strike: Source and for that I will be using a mouse and keyboard. 8-)

Steering with the analog stick is way easier. And walking. And cycling. And anything else. But when it comes to aiming. Sheeesh! I hate aiming in the PS2. But a lot of games, no, most of the games that are for PS2 don't need aiming and the dualshock is perfect for movement.

I've used one. You're not fooling me. We need to find a game that allows online play across platforms. Give me a PlayStation controller and you a Wiimote and we'll see who owns who.
